This position will be responsible for performing various physical labor duties on construction projects.Ensures a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using theappropriate tools and equipment for the taskProperly follows all company policies and OSHA/MSHA regulations for safe working procedures andenvironmentReports any problems to the Foreman, Superintendent, Safety Manager, or Human Resources ManagerSignals operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment, movement, and materials withshovelFollows direction of Foreman as to daily tasks and expectations for each specific project or jobsiteMay be called upon to run small power tools such as jack hammerDigs, spreads, and levels construction materialsLifts, carries and holds material, tools and suppliesMaintains regular and predictable attendance at assigned times is requiredOther duties as assignedSafetyResponsible for ensuring OSHA standards and company safety policies are complied with at all timesincluding but not limited to operation of tools, equipment and machineryCorrects unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisorimmediatelyHigh School diploma or equivalent1-2 years’ experience working in an outdoor construction environment, preferably with water or sewerutilitiesMust be able to work in confined spacesAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, andprocedure manuals; ability to listen and comprehend instructions accurately to learn products, processes,safety procedures, installation techniques and equipment useAbility to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure, including whole numbers, commonfractions and decimalsAbility to apply common-sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral ordiagram form; ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardizedsituations
