Summary This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Responsibilities VA Careers - Psychologist: Rewards of a Allied Health Professional Duties may include but are not limited to: Clinical Responsibilities: Provide a full range of psychological assessment and consultation services, particularly for complex or unusually difficult patients, with emphasis on SUD. Psychological assessment may involve interviewing or testing patients of both. Develop, implements, and documents the psychotherapeutic treatment plan for an assigned caseload of clients within ATP, including prompt completion of clinical reminders. Provide education about SUD and integrated dual disorders treatment in both individual and group format to clients, family members, and significant others. Utilize appropriate therapeutic techniques or combinations of techniques to provide Evidence-Based and Recovery-Oriented treatment to clients with SUDs and co-occurring conditions. The incumbent will demonstrate the ability to treat individuals who have experienced a wide range of SUDs and related psychosocial issues. Functions independently as a member of the Truman VA Medical Staff, with full clinical privileges. The psychologist assumes complete professional responsibility for his/her clinical assessment findings, patient care decisions, and documentation. Administrative Responsibilities: Assist the ATP Program Manager in the design, development, and implementation of clinical programs for a team of treatment providers. The psychologist assists ATP leadership in the execution of ongoing program evaluation and data-driven quality improvement projects to monitor the effectiveness of the clinical program. Regularly attends and actively participates in ATP meetings. Incumbent also attends and participates in administrative and informational meetings held by the Service Chief (or designee) and facility director. Adheres to operational policies and procedures for the treatment team, established by Chief of BH. He/She complies with national and local performance measures, including timely health care screening and completion of clinical reminders for all patients. Teaching and Training: Provides clinical supervision and instruction for psychology practicum students, doctoral psychology interns, and/or postdoctoral fellows. The psychologist may also serve as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Missouri and provide trainings and didactics on SUD and/or dual diagnosis to psychiatry residents. The psychologist may also provide in-service training or presentations about SUD or dual diagnosis to other mental health providers or to providers within other service lines, such as primary care. Research: Psychologist remains aware of current research by attending professional conferences and by reading professional publications; and the psychologist presents his or her own findings or theories at such meetings and/or in professional publications, particularly within the areas of SUD and dual diagnosis. May also perform independent research, based on his/her interest and ability, and takes responsibility for the ethical preparation and implementation of his or her research program to be approved by an institutional review board (IRB) and review process.
