The Construction Estimator will manage the preparation of full estimates for complex civil, mining, geotechnical, and environmental construction projects. Estimating work includes creating time and materials, cost reimbursable estimates, lump sum, and unit pricing estimates for construction projects.This position can be based anywhere in the Continental United States. Occasional travel to project sites, client offices, and internal meetings will be required.Analyze Requests for Proposals (RFP’s), plans, and amendments to determine the scope of work and content to establish costs, preparation time, project schedules, materials,labor and manpowerestimates, and reviewdocumentation for competitive bid information and accuracyReviewconstruction documents,understand thescope of work required for the bid,andbreak it down into definable tasksPrepare and carefully review take-offs from relatedconstruction documentsCalculate and prepare cost analysis for all materials, labor and manpower, heavy construction equipment, subcontractor, and overhead costs incurred related to RECON projectsDevelopand maintainresource information related to products, vendors, subcontractors, government requirements, etc.Develop estimates ranging from Rough Order Magnitude (ROM), budgetary, time and material, cost reimbursable, lump sum, and unit pricing estimates for environmental remediation, site preparation, geotechnical construction, decommissioning and industrial demolition projectsWork closely with project managers and subcontractors to promote the understanding of the scope of work, changes, potential Requests for Information, and adjustments to cost estimates prior toproposal submission to formulate accurate estimates while mitigatingrisk for the organizationWork closely with the proposal department by developing technical approach narratives and work plansTwo years or more of construction project estimating experience related to environmental remediation, mine reclamation, decommissioning & demolition, geotechnical, soil and/or earthwork construction projectsAssociates or bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Environmental Science, or equivalent construction estimating experience is favorablePrevious operations or project management experience with strong estimating skillsrelated to earthwork would be aplusExcellent written and verbal communication skillsProficiency in MS Office, Blue Beam, as well as experience creating estimates using estimating software using HCSS Heavy Bid or similar platformsExperience using Primavera (P6) and/or Microsoft Project would be a plusExperience using AutoCad civil 3D or similar 3D takeoff software is a plusMust be self-motivated and able to work effectively with little or no direct supervision to thrive in a fast paced, deadline driven work environmentThis position will requireminimal travel to attend clientmeetings, project site walks related to new earthwork projects, etc.
