Racker provides progressive strength based preschool program; and early intervention and pre-school evaluations in Cortland, Tompkins and Tioga Counties. This position will be based in the Owego School Systems.Racker’s mission is to support people with disabilities and their families to lead fulfilling lives by providing opportunities to learn and be connected with others.TheSpeech Language Pathologistis responsible fordesigning and implementing astrengths-basedtherapeutic program for each assigned child that will promote learning and a positive self-imageallin accordance withRacker’svision and mission.In this position, you will work independently, and act as a collaborative part of the largereducational andclinical team at Racker.The Speech-Language Pathologist will incorporatesystemsadvocacy into their work to support students and the school community.The ideal candidate willpossessa strong clinical basis,appreciation for total communication, and an ability to bring playfulness into the work.We are committed to helping you grow and develop. Our classroom speech and language pathologists have an opportunity to work on an interdisciplinary team, receive mentoring and continuing education, and are provided with materials and technology for treatment and documentation. The number of hours/days/evaluations/therapy sessions can vary from a couple hours to several days of per week.Our approach to Diversity and Inclusion -'A world where all people know they belong.'Design and implement an integrated therapeutic program for each assigned child that will promote learning and a positive self-image, reflectingRacker’svalues as defined in its Mission andVisionDevelop and implementappropriate therapyprograms for all individuals in the caseload for whom there is a medical prescriptionProvide individual and group therapy as neededProvide speech-language and hearing screenings as neededAssistin interpreting the individual’s therapy program to the multidisciplinary team and counsel on carryoverShare the therapeutic perspective on how to address children’s goals; meet with teamUnderstand andutilizeperspectives and techniques of other team members in program design and daily activitiesUtilize problem-solving techniques to resolve differences and come to conclusion with teamKeep families fully informed of issues affecting their children and the programProvide support and information that families need - directly, or by using team members,other resources ofRackeror community resourcesPrepare all required reports in a complete,timelyand professionally written manner - including quarterly reports, discharge reports, IEP/IFSP check off and written information as needed for reimbursing and referral agenciesKeep daily records for all assigned individuals including anecdotal records on individual/group therapy progressEducation/Certification:Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology; New York State Certification as a Teacher of the Speech Hearing Handicapped; ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence; approved driver; valid New York State Driver’s LicenseExperience:Thosein the Clinical Fellowship Year(CFY)will be considered,Familiarity with multidisciplinary approaches to intervention and habilitationRequirements:Possible travel to various locations within multiple counties, usingownvalid, working vehicle. Must havevaliddriver’slicense.Use of smartphonefor documentation purposesrequired. Ownership/usage of personalsmartphoneis strongly preferred.
