Provide real-time floor oversight, ensure compliance with standards, gather data on performance and issues, and escalate to supervisors for strategic decisions in a high-volume paper bag manufacturing environment. Split floor coverage with the other Lead to monitor machines, drive team development, and minimize losses due to articulable constraints.ResponsibilitiesServe as first line supervisor for Machine Operators, and Utility personsAssign employees to production lines and make sure all machines are running on schedule and at production speedMonitor bags being run, making sure hourly samples are taken in order to inspect quality and catch any defects and unnecessary wasteAssist in machine changeovers/order changes and ensure they are completed in a timely mannerClean and repair machines as neededMake sure work in area is done in a safe manner and employees are following all safety procedures, i.e. PPE, guards, ZES, shirt tails, etc.Submit accurate production reports daily and timelyMake sure employees take breaks, and schedule relief as neededEvaluate employees’ performances, and administer counseling and/or disciplinary action, improvement plans and making sure that recurring problems are brought to the attention of Shift Supervisor or Department ManagerTrain new employees or assign them to others to trainKeep workers supplied with necessary materialsMake sure employees keep their work areas cleanRefer employees to Human Resources for complaints and/or first step grievances or other issues as they ariseFollow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Food Safety PracticesOther miscellaneous duties as assigned by management, including food safetyQualifications5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment2-5 years Adjuster experienceEffective listening, speaking & writing ability in person and on the phoneAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and quality instructions, and procedural manualsAbility to complete routine reports and recordsAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divideAbility to write clearly and concisely, using good grammar and professional styleSelf managing with organization and time management skillsMust have good eyesight (no colorblindness) in order to spot flaws in color comparison, print set-up, etc. as bags or film come off the production lineWhat You'll Get From UsBenefitsWith safety as our top priority and a commitment to employee well-being an important focus, we offer comprehensive and competitive benefits that include medical, dental and vision insurance as well as a variety of other well-being resources focused on mental, physical and financial health.
