Each water park location features aunique theme with water slides, climbing walls, lazy rivers, kiddie playgrounds and leisure pools.El Paso has been recognized as a Top Performing City (Governing and Living Cities, 2017), Best Large Cities for Families(Apartment List, Jan 2017), Americau2019s Top 20 Best Value Cities (Trivago, 2016), 4th Best Place to Live if you Love theOutdoors (US News, July 2016) and #2 Safest City in America (SafeWise, Aug 2017)Position SummaryThe lifeguard position reports to the Aquatic & Park Service Lead & Aquatic & Park Service Supervisor and is pivotal incollaboratively maintaining pool safety by vigilantly monitoring activities and engaging with patrons and provide qualityservice for swim lesson programming to jointly uphold safety standards if required. This position requires coordinationwith all departments of El Paso Water Parks and ensures proper and efficient operation, care and maintenance of thefacilities.Essential Duties & Responsibilitiesu2022 Enforce all rules and regulations.u2022 Provide needed supervision to prevent accidents.u2022 Scan assigned areas and never leave unless qualified relief is present.u2022 Assist aquatic leadership to ensure smooth operation of the facilities.u2022 Participate in in-service training programs for safety, customer service at all water park facilities. Complete allrequired company trainings and compliance courses as assigned, including but not limited to completion ofmandatory 4 hours per month of In-service as per E&A lifeguard certificate qualification.u2022 Responsible for the care and maintenance of issued equipment.u2022 Keep the water park areas clear of dangerous objects and substances.u2022 Immediately report needed repairs to the aquatics/park services supervisor and or manager.u2022 Present a favorable, professional public image.u2022 Perform related duties as assigned by aquatics supervisor and or manager. Duties may include, but are notlimited to, general housekeeping, general maintenance, inspection of equipment and aquatic features within thepark.u2022 Assist in opening, closing, and operating of the facility as directed by management.u2022 Assist in maintaining pools by brushing, skimming, vacuuming, scrubbing, etc. as required.u2022 Adheres to company standards and maintains compliance with all policies and procedures.u2022 Ensuring that guests receive outstanding customer service by providing a friendly, fun, safe environment.u2022 Maintains high standards, positive attitude, and professional appearance.Lifeguard El Paso Water Parks Revised 01/06/26u2022 Attend monthly staff meetings as required. Develop and maintain a harmonious working relationship with allother departments.u2022 Follow and enforce all sanitation procedures including safety guidelines and OSHA requirements .u2022 Enforce El Paso Water Parks, Ellis & Associates and Legends Global safety standards.u2022 Work extended and/or irregular hours including nights, weekends and holidays as needed.u2022 Recognize and respond effectively to all emergency situations.u2022 Maintains current certifications and stays up-to-date professionally in the aquatics and risk management field.u2022 Performs other related duties as assigned.Swim Instructor Duties & Responsibilities (if applicable)u2022 Provide quality swim lessons and commit to the full summer season of waterpark programming.u2022 Provide customer service feedback for swim lesson participants and update them on the progression of student.u2022 Attend 2 hours per month of swim lesson in-service trainings.Qualifications & Skillsu2022 Must be 16 years of age or older required.u2022 Ability to communicate effectively in the English language.u2022 Ability to understand and follow verbal directives and written directions.u2022 Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred.u2022 Must be able to swim, perform water activities and rescues.u2022 Must be able to swim 50 yards (front crawl or breaststroke), swim under water for 10 feet, and retrieve a 10-poundbrick from bottom of a pool (shallow water).u2022 Must be able to swim 200 yards (front crawl or breaststroke), tread water for 2 minutes with hands out of thewater and retrieve a 10-pound brick from the deepest part of the pool (deep water).u2022 Maintain an effective working relationship with clients, employees, vendors, patrons, and others encountered inthe course of employment.u2022 Current Ellis & Associates (or equivalent) lifeguard certification preferred or able to attain certification upon hire.u2022 Recognizes an emergency and takes appropriate action.u2022 Excellent verbal communication skills.u2022 Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.u2022 If applicable, must be able to provide a current swim instructor certification and/or obtain Ellis & Associates JEMSwim Instructor certification upon hiring.u2022 Able to communicate and direct all ages effectively in an instructional environmentMinimum Education & Experienceu2022 Working towards a High School Diploma or GED preferredu2022 Ability to puter Skillsu2022 Operate a personal computer using Windows, Microsoft Office, and other standard office equipment preferred.Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfullyperform the essential functions of this job.
