Assistant Controller

Description We are looking for an experienced Assistant Controller to join our team in Melbourne, Florida. In this role, you will oversee critical financial reporting, compliance, and internal controls for a publicly traded defense contractor. This position requires extensive knowledge of government contracting regulations and expertise in financial systems such as Deltek Costpoint. Responsibilities: u2022 Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in line with regulatory and compliance requirements. u2022 Ensure adherence to Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) internal control standards and support related audits. u2022 Assist in drafting and reviewing public filings. u2022 Maintain and improve internal control systems to meet compliance mandates. u2022 Collaborate with auditors during internal and external audits to ensure timely reviews. u2022 Oversee compliance with government contracting regulations, including reviewing indirect cost rates and supporting incurred cost submissions. u2022 Utilize Deltek Costpoint for accurate financial reporting and data analysis. u2022 Supervise accounting staff, providing mentorship and technical guidance. u2022 Partner with FP& A, Contracts, and Program Management teams to ensure alignment on financial processes. u2022 Contribute to system upgrades and improvements to enhance operational efficiency. Requirements u2022 Bacheloru2019s degree in Accounting or Finance; advanced certifications preferred. u2022 Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including public company reporting. u2022 Strong understanding of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements and compliance. u2022 Proficiency in Deltek Costpoint and advanced Excel capabilities. u2022 Familiarity with cost accounting standards (CAS) and government audits. u2022 Effective analytical and organizational skills with a proven ability to manage complex tasks. u2022 Exceptional communication skills to collaborate across departments. u2022 Prior experience in defense, aerospace, or government contracting is highly desirable.
