Bank Interns are expected to work in our Prudential Tower office in Bostonu2019s Back Bay neighborhood as often as possible. The Bank does offer full-time employees a hybrid work model that does require weekly in-office time. The Bank does not offer remote internships. The Bank is not able to sponsor work authorization for Interns. Internship Summary This intern will work within the Housing and Community Investment (HCI) department to conduct essential research for the Banku2019s 2027 Targeted Community Lending Plan and the 2027 Affordable Housing Program Implementation Plan. These plans set the direction of the Banku2019s eight community investment programs. The Student Research Assistant will work independently and guide much of the researchu2019s direction and outcomes with the support of staff in the Banku2019s HCI department. In prior years, student-led research has helped FHLBank Boston expand its knowledge and outreach on systematic housing challenges and opportunities, including cost burdens, homeownership gaps, shared equity homeownership and resident-owned communities, and innovative land-use policies to help increase housing production and housing choice. The pay for the internship is $35/hour. This is a full-time internship, anticipated 40 hours a week, and will run from mid-May to mid-August 2026. Specific Responsibilities u00b7 Conduct primary and secondary research; a list of public policy research topics initially expected to focus on will be provided. u00b7 Present findings to Banku2019s staff, expert officials, and practitioners who serve the Banku2019s 15-member Advisory Council. u00b7 Develop materials, analyze data, conduct/participate in stakeholder interviews, and work on background memos. u00b7 Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education u00b7 Progress towards a public policy or relevant masteru2019s degree is the minimum requirement. This internship is intended to enhance the educational experience or to support someoneu2019s exploration of a career in public policy, housing finance, community development, and/or environmental policy. Experience u00b7 Some prior work experience in an office setting is preferred. u00b7 Familiar with planning and housing policy knowledge as well as economic growth priorities facing New Englandu2019s communities, including systemic disparities in housing opportunity, income, wealth, and homeownership. Knowledge/Skills u00b7 Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. u00b7 Ability to maintain confidentiality. u00b7 Demonstrated strong attention to detail. u00b7 Demonstrated organizational and time management skills. u00b7 Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. u00b7 Ability to analyze and present data/conclusions in writing and visually.
