Job Type: Full-Time (Mt.Airy)Position:u00a0Grocery Category ManagerSalary: Starting at $60,000 annuallyWeavers Way Co-op is a member-owned, not-for-profit organization guided by a People--Planet--Profit philosophy, supporting our community, sustainability, and local food system.We are seeking a mission-driven Grocery Category Manager to lead purchasing, merchandising, and category strategy for all packaged, refrigerated, frozen, and bulk grocery categories across all locations. This role manages product assortment, supplier relationships, promotions, and financial performance to ensure strong margins and an exceptional member experience.Key ResponsibilitiesCategory Strategy & Merchandising- Develop and execute category strategies, assortment plans, and merchandising standards.- Lead product selection, category reviews, resets, and promotional calendars.- Analyze sales, margins, inventory turns, and product performance.- Oversee internal promotions, seasonal programs, and new product launches.Brand & Supplier Management- Build and maintain relationships with brands, suppliers, brokers, and distributors.- Negotiate pricing and promotional terms.- Oversee warehouse purchasing programs, special buys, and holiday preorders.- Serve as NCG Promotion Liaison and primary contact for brokers.- Support incubator and local vendors.Financial Management- Set margin goals and pricing strategies with the Retail Director.- Monitor category profitability and promotional ROI.- Provide strategic input on pricing architecture and margin performance.Team Collaboration & Leadership- Partner with the Merchandising Coordinator on pricing, data accuracy, and execution.- Collaborate with other Category Managers and store teams for consistency.- Lead weekly grocery department meetings.- Train and support store buyers and replenishment teams.Requirements- Commitment to Weavers Way Co-op's mission and values.- 5+ years of experience in grocery category management, buying, or merchandising.- Strong knowledge of grocery supply chains and vendor negotiations.- Experience managing multi-location packaged grocery categories, including bulk and bakery.- Proficiency in Microsoft and Google Suite; experience with retail management systems.- Strong analytical, financial, and organizational skills.- Excellent communication and relationship management abilities.- Valid driver's license with reliable transportation; ability to travel between stores and warehouse.- Must be, or become, a member in good standing of Weavers Way Co-op.BenefitsComprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance; Co-op-paid short- and long-term disability and life insurance; paid time off; retirement plan with employer match; employee discounts; and more.Phila.BST
