Job DutiesAs a Professional Structural Engineer in Alliantu2019s Transportation Design group, you'll have the opportunity to deliver structural design projects of varying scope and complexity throughout Minnesota and nationally. You will have the opportunity to work closely with MnDOT and contractors on high profile, local Design-Build (DB), Construction Manager/General Contractor (CMGC), and traditional design projects. Utilize your technical expertise to design bridges, retaining walls, overhead sign structures, and other miscellaneous structures; compute design calculations; and prepare plans, specifications, and cost estimates.Other activities will include resolving design issues with proactive and innovative solutions, checking design work per Alliant's Design Quality Management Plan, and engaging in professional development activities to grow your client network. As an experienced Structural Engineer at Alliant, you will independently adhere and apply standard structural engineering principles and techniques. Your excellent technical, written and oral communication skills will lend your expertise in supporting writing proposals, scopes of work and preparing project budgets. Other duties include:Structural design of steel, prestressed concrete, and cast-in-place concrete bridgesPreliminary and final bridge plan developmentDevelopment of quantity calculations, cost estimates and project specificationsDesign of minor structural elements of infrastructure projects, such as retaining walls, sign supports, and drainage structures.Collaboration with roadway, drainage, geotechnical and other disciplines to deliver high-quality project deliverables.
