JMT is currently ranked #50 on Engineering News-Record's list of the Top 500 Design Firms.Position Summary: u00a0JMT is currently looking for experienced Field Technicians to join the Underground Utilities, Land Surveying, and Mapping team in Pittsburgh. u00a0This position is similar to a utility locator.Immigration sponsorship or support (e.g. H1B, F-1 CPT/OPT/STEM OPT) is not available for this position, except for qualified candidates eligible for the TN visa classification.Essential Functions and ResponsibilitiesConduct field investigationsOperate equipment to locate & mark subsurface utilitiesLabel topographic features from field codesPerform calculationsComplete daily reports and field note sketchesAssist with training SUE staff in methods, use of equipment, and field safety proceduresParticipate in project meetingsOperate vacuum excavation truck to expose underground utilitiesInterpret roadway and utility plans, and utility record drawingsTravel requiredNonessential Functions and ResponsibilitiesPerform other related duties as assignedRequired SkillsMust successfully complete and pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screeningValid Driver's License RequiredAble to pass Background CheckSkills in mathematics and coordinate geometryRequired Experience5+ years' experienceFamiliarity with total stations, data collectors and GPSHigh school diploma or equivalentTeam Attitude / MindsetPreferred ExperienceExperience using Ground Penetrating Radar is preferred but not necessarySurveying experience preferred but not necessaryWorking ConditionsWork is performed in the field 95% of the time. Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 75+ lbs. as needed. Work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Successful candidate must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.Work is performed within a general office environment 5% of the time. Office work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
