Summary The Cincinnati, OH VA Medical Center is seeking a Physician to work as a Agency Medical Officer (AMO) at our facility. The 2-page Resume requirement does not apply to this occupational series. For more information, refer to Required Documents below. Responsibilities The Occupational Health Program is under Primary Care Service. It is VA's policy to ensure that applicants and employees are physically, cognitively, and emotionally fit to perform the duties of the position to which they are assigned. The physician will serve as the Agency Medical Officer (AMO) for the facility and is responsible for providing employee occupational health services in accordance with VA Handbook 5019/1, Part I with administrative advice and assistance from the Human Resources Management Office. Duties include but are not limited to: Acts in collaboration with midlevel providers. At the request of authorized personnel, responds to potential health hazards to employees throughout the facility. Complies with information security policy and procedures and all documentation on coding. Documents medical advice to patients by telephone as appropriate and in accordance with the Cincinnati VAMC protocol. Performs necessary administrative duties which include operation of computerized electronic patient records and meets established timelines for completion of documentation and encounter completion. Analyzes, directs, and implements Whole Health programs for employees. Other duties as assigned. The Employee Health Physician provides employee occupational health services in the work environment. Examinations and evaluation may be conducted for the purpose of: Initial and subsequent official VA personnel actions. Assisting employees in health promotion and disease prevention. Safeguarding the health and safety of employees and others. Pre-placement physical examination to determine the physical, cognitive, and emotional fitness of applicants for appointment. Determine medical clearance status. Performs annual health promotion evaluations including screening tests at the request of the employee. Performs special physical examination to determine fitness-for-duty. The physician shall complete a medical report for all OWCP cases treated in the facility. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, variable hours and shifts available. VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package. VHA Physician Total Rewards. All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA. Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959. Must be proficient in written and spoken English. Acceptable form(s) of identification will be required to complete pre-employment requirements (Effective May 7, 2025, driver's licenses or state-issued dentification cards that are not REAL ID compliant cannot be utilized as an acceptable form of identification for employment.
