This role requires strong expertise in mainframe technologies, proficiency with legacy programming languages such as COBOL or Assembler, and hands-on experience with system conversion initiatives. The ideal candidate excels at translating business needs into technical solutions, demonstrates exceptional analytical capabilities, and maintains a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.Key Responsibilities- Analyze, document, and validate business requirements related to financial systems and operational processes.- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to define functional specifications aligned with organizational objectives.- Support and maintain mainframe-based applications, with a preference for experience in COBOL or Assembler.- Lead or contribute to system conversion and migration efforts, ensuring data accuracy and operational continuity.- Translate business requirements into clear technical specifications for development and engineering teams.- Conduct gap analyses and propose enhancements to improve system efficiency and performance.- Perform thorough testing, validation, and quality assurance on system changes and enhancements.- Develop and maintain detailed documentation covering requirements, workflows, and process designs.- Serve as a liaison between business units and technical teams to facilitate effective communication and alignment.Required Skills & Qualifications- Strong understanding of financial or banking domain concepts, including core products such as deposits, loans, and payments.- Hands-on experience with mainframe environments; proficiency in COBOL or Assembler is preferred.- Demonstrated success in system conversions, migrations, or modernization initiatives.- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.- Ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams and interpret system architecture.- Strong communication skills with the ability to manage stakeholder expectations.- Familiarity with SDLC methodologies, Agile practices, and software testing principles.EEO EmployerApex Systems is an equal opportunity employer.
