As a faculty member, the individual will actively contribute to the Division's missions of education, research, and community engagement through teaching and advising, engaging in research and the pursuit of sponsored funding, and through internal and external professional service activities. Notably, this individual will hold an administrative appointment to direct our highly-ranked MHA program. Key MHA program director responsibilities include: 1) Accountability for the MHA Program's strategic, operational, and financial performance, working closely with faculty, staff, and divisional leadership. 2) Oversee the MHA curriculum and competency framework, and work collaboratively with divisional leadership on instructional staffing of MHA courses 3) Facilitate mentorship and professional development activities for faculty and intermittent lecturers teaching MHA courses to promote pedagogical excellence and innovative curriculum delivery. 4) Lead the CAHME re-accreditation process 5) Supervise MHA-affiliated staff and intermittent lecturers 6) Address MHA student performance and academic misconduct issues 7) Represent the MHA program as a member of the HPM and SPH Education Policy Committees 8) Work with School of Public Health leaders to promote strong MHA alumni engagement and philanthropy 9) Demonstrate educational leadership and actively engage with industry leaders and peer programs (e.g., ACHE and AUPHA). Qualifications Associate Professor (tenured): Required Qualifications PhD or other doctoral-level degree in one of the following disciplines or fields: health services research, healthcare administration, public policy and management, economics, sociology, law, medicine, public health, or business Demonstrated record of effective, innovative teaching and student advising Research and teaching focus in one or more areas: healthcare organizations and management, human resources, accounting, healthcare finance, or strategy Demonstrated scholarship in the form of peer-reviewed scholarly publications and dissemination of research, commensurate with experience Demonstrated record of success in competing for sponsored funding from government and/or private foundation sources, commensurate with experience Demonstrated record of service, including internal academic service as well as service to the profession Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal communication. About the Department The Division of Health Policy and Management includes a multi-disciplinary faculty and academic staff of more than 40 persons. We house eight research centers with more than 100 staff, including centers aligned with the areas of expertise we are seeking. The Division has four active teaching programs with a combined enrollment of over 250 students, including a highly ranked Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) program with residential and executive tracks; a Master of Public Health (MPH) program in Public Health Administration and Policy (residential, distance, and executive tracks) as well as MS and PhD programs in Health Services Research, Policy, and Administration.
