What to ExpectTesla is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Sr. Facilities Mechanical Engineer to join our team at Gigafactory New York in Buffalo. In this critical role, you will take accountability of assigned facilities system(s), overseeing the integration, operation, and maintenance of facilities systems. Your work will directly contribute to ensuring that Tesla's manufacturing processes run smoothly, efficiently, and safely, aligning with our mission to accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy. You will be expected to drive operations, maintenance, troubleshooting, system optimization, cost-saving initiatives, and innovation, while embodying Tesla's culture of excellence, collaboration, and mentorship.What You'll Do Perform daily operations functions to ensure the plant remains compliant with all safety and regulatory standards, maintaining a safe and efficient working environmentManage multiple facility projects, capital improvement initiatives, and operational tasks simultaneously, seamlessly switching between projects while ensuring timely completion within established deadlinesDevelop, document, and continuously improve operations and maintenance procedures for facility systems, ensuring clarity and adherence to best practicesDevelop mechanical/process equipment and utility design drawings in RevitPrepare engineering specifications for bid invitations, conduct bid evaluations, conform bids for purchase, evaluate quotes for preventative maintenance activities, and develop specs and proposals for equipment and services with vendorsCoordinate downtime activities between maintenance, construction, and production teams to minimize disruptions and ensure smooth plant operationsDrive root cause analysis on process or asset failures, identify opportunities for innovation, and work across sites to determine commonality and implement best practicesMentor and coach facilities technicians and operators, ensuring established efficiency and safety targets are met, while fostering a culture of collaboration, development, and excellenceWhat You'll Bring Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experienceMinimum of 5 years of engineering experience in the operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of mechanical systems, including chillers, boilers, compressors, air dryers, air handling units, fans, pumps, heat exchangers, cooling towers, dehumidification units, and heat recovery systemsProficiency in HVAC load calculations, hydraulic analysis, and software tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, MS Office, MS Project, and CMMS systemsProven ability to identify opportunities for innovation and make recommendations supported by thorough analysis, consistent with code and best engineering practicesDemonstrated experience in driving root cause analysis and implementing best practices across sitesCapable of managing multiple complex projects simultaneously while directing and overseeing the work of junior staffCapable of developing mechanical / process equipment and utility design drawings in RevitStrong organizational and time management skills with a keen attention to detailAbility to develop specs, proposals, and cost/ROI analysis for equipment and servicesAbility to work closely with cross-functional teams, including Maintenance, Operations, and Construction, to ensure seamless plant operationsCompensation and BenefitsBenefits Along with competitive pay, as a full-time Tesla employee, you are eligible for the following benefits at day 1 of hire:Medical plans > plan options with $0 payroll deductionFamily-building, fertility, adoption and surrogacy benefitsDental (including orthodontic coverage) and vision plans, both have options with a $0 paycheck contributionCompany Paid (Health Savings Accounts) HSA Contribution when enrolled in the High-Deductible medical plan with HSAHealthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)401(k) with emplo
