Description We are looking for an experienced Paralegal to join our team on a contract basis in San Diego, California. This role involves providing essential support in estate planning, probate, and trust administration. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in legal documentation and client management, with a keen eye for detail and excellent organizational skills. Responsibilities: u2022 Prepare initial drafts and final versions of legal documents, including trusts, wills, powers of attorney, healthcare directives, and related affidavits. u2022 Organize and update asset schedules, funding letters, beneficiary designations, and trust funding checklists. u2022 Develop probate pleadings such as petitions, letters, inventories, appraisals, accountings, and final distribution requests. u2022 Handle client intake processes, including conducting conflict checks, drafting engagement letters, and capturing initial asset and beneficiary data. u2022 Coordinate document signings, manage notarizations, arrange witnesses, and ensure compliance with execution formalities. u2022 Track and manage critical deadlines, including court hearings, tax filing dates, and notice periods. u2022 Assist in assembling and maintaining trust certifications and supporting documents for trust administration. u2022 Provide administrative support to ensure smooth and efficient handling of legal matters. u2022 Communicate effectively with clients to address their needs and concerns throughout the legal process. Requirements u2022 Minimum of 3 years of experience in estate planning, probate, and trust administration. u2022 Knowledge of WealthCounsel estate planning software is a plus. u2022 Proficiency in drafting and reviewing legal documents, such as trusts, wills, and powers of attorney. u2022 Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities. u2022 Familiarity with asset protection strategies and beneficiary designation processes. u2022 Knowledge of probate procedures, including preparation of pleadings and court filings. u2022 Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in document preparation. u2022 Ability to coordinate and oversee signing formalities, including notarizations and witness arrangements. u2022 Effective communication skills to interact with clients and team members professionally.
