This position will coach student athletesin the principles of proper conditioning and maximizing athleticperformance.This is a part-time position working August through May(10 months).Annual salary starts at approximately $20,000.Stewardship Statement:This position is responsible for cultivating and maintaining theinstitution's Catholic identity and its mission to empower graduates totransform society. Additionally, this positioncontributes to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respectfor, and development of skills to engage with those of other faiths,cultures, or backgrounds.Work Performed:1. Assist with all aspects of the coaching and management of a competitive NCAA Division II athletic performance program.2. Instruct student-athletes in the areas of physical health, team concepts and safety.3. Demonstrate a working knowledge of and ability to comply with all NCAA Division II, MIAA Conference, and institutional rules and regulations.4. Schedule and conduct regular strength and conditioning sessions with student-athletes to ensure student-athletes are physically prepared for competition.5. Collaborate with the Head Coaches to develop strategies to motivate maximum level of individual and team athletic performance and appropriate personal and social conduct within the mission of Newman University.6. Assist with fundraising, promotional, and public relations events within the community, including on-campus and off-campus, specifically booster club activities and community engagement/service projects.7. Complete all University-required trainings including Title IX and FERPA.8. Contribute to the overall success of the Athletics Department by performing all other duties as assigned and appropriate to the position.Required Qualifications/Education/Experience/Skills/Training:1. Certified through a nationally recognized strength and conditioning program with a CSCS certification.2. Bachelors degree required; masters degree preferred.3. Experience as a successful athletic performance coach.4. Must possess a valid drivers license and pass a motor vehicle check.5. Effective leadership and strong oral and written communication skills.6. Knowledge of NCAA Division II rules and regulations preferred.7. Sound human relations skills in dealing with student-athletes, university personnel, and members of the off-campus community.8. Ability to participate with fundraising within the community.9. Ability to work evenings and weekends, as necessary.10. Must be able to be certified in First aid and CPR, as required by NCAA rules.11. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.Physical Requirements:1. Position involves both inside sedentary work and outside work on the field in coaching and training situations with student athletes.2. Demonstration of appropriate skills may involve strained muscles or orthopedic related injuries from running, jumping, throwing, kicking or hitting.3. Position requires durability.4.
