MassHealth's PCA programprovides funds for people with disabilities (consumer-employer orconsumer) to manage one or more PCA's. What is a PCA? PCA's are hiredto assist consumers with home and personal care tasks. PCA's helpconsumers live in their homes by providing support with: - Walking -Transferring in and out of chairs and beds - Toileting - Bathing anddressing - Meal preparation - Housekeeping - Shopping Who is the PCA'smanager? The consumer is the PCA's manager. They make the PCA?sschedule and help train the PCA. Who can work as a PCA? You can work asa PCA if: - You are allowed to work in the United States - You canunderstand and follow the consumer?s directions You will need tocomplete a paid, 4-hour PCA New Hire Orientation training after you arehired. No other requirements are needed. Can I work as a PCA for friendsor family? Yes, you can work as a PCA for friends and some familymembers enrolled in the MassHealth PCA program. A person cannot be hiredif they are the consumer's spouse, parent/foster parent (if theconsumer is a minor), or legally responsible relative. What else shouldI know about working as a PCA? - PCAs can work full-time (up to 50 hoursper week) or part-time (as few as one hour per week). - Each consumerhas their own preference for education and work experience. - Eachconsumer can choose whether to run a CORI, SORI or drug test. - Eachconsumer can choose whether to require COVID-19 vaccination.
