Assistant Controller

Description We are looking for an Assistant Controller to join our team in Santa Clara, California. In this role, you will assist the Controller in managing accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls. This position requires strong attention to detail, expertise in construction accounting, and a collaborative approach to working with various departments. Responsibilities: u2022 Lead and support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting. u2022 Prepare and analyze financial statements in compliance with industry standards and organizational requirements. u2022 Manage job cost accounting tasks, including tracking schedules, cost-to-complete calculations, and percentage-of-completion reports. u2022 Perform reconciliations for general ledger accounts and balance sheet items to maintain data accuracy. u2022 Contribute to cash flow forecasting and budgeting to support organizational financial planning. u2022 Oversee revenue recognition and contract accounting processes to ensure compliance with relevant guidelines. u2022 Collaborate with project managers to evaluate job performance, profitability, and variance analysis. u2022 Develop and enhance internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures to improve operational efficiency. u2022 Coordinate audits, tax preparation, and external reporting to meet regulatory and compliance obligations. u2022 Supervise and guide accounting staff, supporting growth and effective team collaboration. Requirements u2022 Proven experience in month-end close processes and general ledger management. u2022 Strong knowledge of financial statement preparation and auditing practices. u2022 Expertise in financial reporting and compliance within the construction industry. u2022 Hands-on experience with job cost accounting and related methodologies. u2022 Proficiency in revenue recognition and contract accounting principles. u2022 Ability to collaborate effectively across departments, including project and operational teams. u2022 Demonstrated ability to improve internal controls and implement accounting best practices. u2022 Excellent leadership and mentoring skills to support and develop accounting staff.
