Echo Technicians use ultrasound devices and other imaging tools that use sound waves to create images of the heart. They inspect the chambers and walls of the heart as well as the valves. An echocardiogram can be administered externally on a patient's chest but can also be conducted by placing a tube down a patient's esophagus to get closer to the heart internally. By joining theMartin Healthteam as a Registered Echo Technician, youwill perform a range of echo exams in various settings, including diagnostic facilities, outpatient centers, and patientrooms, requiring flexibility and adaptability. An Echo Technician in this role must be comfortable with portable work as you will rotate through various locations.This isa great opportunity for experienced techs to expand their capabilities and gain skills, whileactingas a steppingstone to other careers within the field at Cleveland Clinic.A caregiver in this position works Monday-Friday from 8:30AM - 5:00PM, with on-call and rotating weekend and holiday requirements.This caregiver will float between St. Lucie West, Stuart Family Health Center, Martin North Hospital, Martin South Hospital and Tradition Hospital for training purposes and as needed after training.A caregiver who excels in this role will:Perform echocardiograms, stress tests, stressechoesand Dobutamine stress echo.Assistcardiologist with transesophageal echocardiograms.Consult withcardiologistsforinterpretation oftestresults.Maintain records of testing documentation.Provide daily account ofpatient'scharge requisition withappropriate ICD9codes.Provide training and acts as a resource for echocardiogram students,residentsand physicians.Provide testing for add-on emergency patients.Alwaysmaintaincomplete and up-to-date documentation and files, including products and service quotes.Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:Graduate from a two-year Cardiovascular Technologist programRegistered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) registry status from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) OR Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) from the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red CrossStrong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients, families,physiciansand other caregiversAbility to empathize with patients and familiesPreferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:Five years of experience in echo and vascular ultrasoundPhysical Requirements: Interact with patients, families, physicians and other health care workers.Good hand coordination for positioning of probe and equipment.Good vision to analyze computer screens and VCR recordings to diagnose test results.Use good judgment in stressful emergency situations.Adequate mathematics skills to maintain accurate record and report.Physical Duties: Moderate lifting and positioning of patients.Moderate pushing and pulling of equipment.Working Conditions: 100% air-conditioned.Moderate risk of exposure to blood or air-borne pathogensPersonal Protective Equipment: Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.Pay RangeSalaries [which may be] shown on independent job search websites reflect various market averages and do not represent information obtained directly from The Cleveland Clinic.
