Laborers provide support for the form carpenters and for the concrete operation in general, ironworkers/rodbusters involved in installing reinforcing steel, and masons involved in the installation of block and brickwork. This is a safety sensitive position. Position Qualifications: u00b7 High School Diploma or GED. u00b7 Valid Driveru2019s License. u00b7 Follow safe work practices in accordance with the Hensel Phelps safety and health program. u00b7 Must be able to take initiative. u00b7 Possess a keen attention to detail and be able to follow instructions. u00b7 Workers must provide their own safety footwear. u00b7 Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally with co-workers and stakeholders. u00b7 Strong mathematical reasoning and quantitative skills. u00b7 Must be reliable and punctual. Preferred Qualifications u00b7 Experienced in construction layout, blueprint reading and shop drawing reading. u00b7 OSHA 10 Certification. u00b7 CPR & First Aid Certification. Essential Duties: u00b7 Preparation of areas for the placement of concrete involves final excavation of dirt and rock and fine grading for floor slabs. This work involves shoveling for extended periods of time. u00b7 Assembly of concrete forms, laborers are required to lift form prefabricated metal form panels and assist in their placement. u00b7 Handle the concrete bucket suspended from a crane that transfers the concrete from the concrete truck to the placement area. After the concrete is poured from the bucket, laborers muck the concrete in slabs to spread it evenly. u00b7 After the concrete has cured, the laborers assist in stripping the concrete forms and transporting them for storage. u00b7 Assist concrete finishers in moving power trowels and power screeds used to finish the concrete surface. u00b7 Support of block masons installing masonry work by handling and transporting bags of cement, lime, sand, and grout. This includes stocking blocks and bricks. u00b7 Assist carpenters in handling and setting door frames. This entails transporting the door frames from the storage area to the work areas and stacking the door frames where needed. u00b7 Loads, unloads, and identifies building materials, machinery, and tools. Distributes site materials to the appropriate locations, according to project plans and specifications. Responsible for ensuring that all materials are properly distributed, and the site is swept and well maintained. u00b7 Promotes a safe work environment and communicates jobsite hazards. This includes helping to secure the jobsite at the end of business each day and verifying that all site materials are properly stored. Physical Work Classification & Demands: u2022 Heavy Work. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. u2022 The individual in this position will periodically walk, kneel, sit, crouch, reach, stoop, read/see, speak, push, pull, lift, stand, and finger/type. The frequency of each action varies by workflow and field activity. u2022 Walking - The person in this position needs to frequently move about the jobsite. u2022 Sometimes operates a computer or tablet and other office machinery, such as a calculator and phone. u2022 The person in this position frequently communicates with employees and external stakeholders regarding a variety of topics related to office and field administration. u2022 Constantly reads written communications and views mail submissions. Will also need to read and understand blueprints, load charts, and take/verify field measurements. u2022 Climbing u2013 Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding and ramps at various heights. u2022 Working from heights u2013 the person must be comfortable and able to work from heights for extended amounts of time. u2022 Balancing u2013 Ability to maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling and to walk, stand or crouch. u2022 Stooping u2013 Bending the body downward and forward by the spine at the waist. u2022 Reaching u2013 Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction for various lengths of time. u2022 Grasping u2013 Needs to apply pressure to an object with fingers and palm regularly. u2022 Visual acuity and ability to operate a vehicle as certified and appropriate. u2022 Occasionally exposed to high and low temperatures. u2022 Frequently exposed to noisy environment and outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind. u2022 Use of hands and wrists with various tools. u2022 Prolonged use of jackhammer and pavement breaker. u2022 Use of wheelbarrows and brooms. u2022 Repetitive use of hands and wrists using power, rotational, and vibration tools including prolonged use of jackhammers and pavement breakers. u2022 Tolerate legally permissible exposure to dusts and chemicals, such as cement dust, solvents, and curing compounds. u2022 The person must be able to safely wear a respirator and is able to pass applicable medical and fit testing examinations. u2022 Must be able to hear commands from supervisors and back-up safety alarms on equipment Benefits: Hensel Phelps provides generous benefits for our full-time employees.
