You will work as part of a team to perform failure analysis and provide design support for complex problems involving fluid flow, heat transfer, mass transport, combustion, and thermodynamics. Projects will span many industries, including oil & gas, power generation and distribution, automotive, consumer products, medical devices, battery systems, and more. Specific duties will include planning and executing experimental test programs, conducting fieldwork and inspections, preparing proposals and technical reports, presenting to clients, and developing new clients. u00a0You will be responsible forApplying your technical knowledge to investigate failures of mechanical and chemical systemsDesigning and constructing test apparatusesThermal design analysisHeat transfer, fluid mechanics, and thermodynamics analysisConducting field work, such as off-site testing or attending evidence inspectionsReviewing and summarizing background information pertaining to failure eventsWriting reports, preparing presentations, and presenting results to the clientIdentifying and marketing to internal and external clientsu00a0You will have the following skills and qualificationsPh.D. in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical EngineeringStrong technical background in heat transfer, fluid mechanics, combustion, and thermodynamicsHands-on experience in managing and executing experimental programs, including troubleshooting experimental test setupsOutstanding verbal and written communications skillsA desire and the flexibility to tackle a wide variety of problems within and outside your direct area of expertiseA desire and ability to market your technical knowledge to external clientsDomestic travel is likely requiredApplicants are encouraged to submit a CV with publications (feel free to include publications that are in review or pending) [not restricted to 1 page].Life @ ExponentTo learn more about life at Exponent and our impact, please visit the following links:inspiring, developing, and rewarding exceptional people with diverse backgrounds and expertise are central to our corporate culture. Exponent's total compensation plan is consistent with its expectations of the quality and quantity of work performed and with the professional standards set by Exponent.
