The Medical Assistant participates as a team member in the overall functioning of the clinic. The Medical Assistant is responsible for the flow of the patients for assigned providers (as applicable) each day. They perform duties and procedures as described in the Primary Responsibilities section.This position is 1.0 FTE, 40 hours/week.All Essential Functions of the MA I positionLeave paperwork / Prior Authorizations /Prescriptions refillsAnswering / screening incoming phone callsCoordinating outside labs results and notify pt. of norm labs resultsActs as preceptor/ trainerReinforce compliance in billing / codingFacilitates distribution of clinical contacts, schedules and care management toolsMonitor and assist with clinic flowRequest medical record from external/internal facilities and prepare for provider reviewCollaborate with clinic nursing supervisor to develop operational strategies and process improvements for department / unitAssist in resolving and/or responding to non-clinical related patient complaints and inquiriesRequired:Completion of a medical assistant program offered by a school accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or a program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP); orMilitary training or experience may also satisfy the training and experience requirementsCertified Medical Assistant in the State of Washington and must be familiar with the State's conduct and standards of practice.Current Surgical Technologist Registration in the State of Washington within 30 days of hire as applicable, depending on locationCurrent BLS AHA Health Provider Card (or equivalent course, such as by the American Red Cross) and renewal required every two yearsThe ability to push / pull machines on wheels that weigh >100 poundsAbility to participate in the process improvement initiativesProficient in email and word processing systemsExperience with Electronic Medical RecordsStrong interpersonal and customer services skillsAbility to work in a fast paced, complex healthcare environmentAbility to multitask, prioritize and problem solveAbility to communicate (verbally and in writing) in a clear and concise mannerAbility to follow direction and guidanceAbility to recognize limitations and seek helpAbility to identify learning needs and plan learning opportunitiesAbility to appropriately respond to emergencies or disasters per clinic protocol and scope of practiceThe hourly pay range for this position is from $31.26 to $44.51 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.This position is 1.0 FTE, 40 hours/week.This position is not eligible for H-1B sponsorship at this time.Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center offers employees a comprehensive benefits package designed to enhance health, well-being, and financial security.
