The Family Office Controller oversees the day-to-day financial operations of a single-family office within a family-owned company structure. This role supports the principals and senior leadership by providing clear, timely financial information across personal, trust, investment, and operating entities.The position focuses on wealth operations, cash and liquidity management, investment administration, and consolidated reporting, working closely with external advisors including banks, investment managers, tax professionals, and legal counsel. The Family Office Controller serves as a central coordinator of the family’s financial ecosystem, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and disciplined execution.This role is best suited for a professional with experience in wealth management, private banking, or a family office environment, who brings strong financial fundamentals and a proactive, service-oriented approach.Training/EducationCPA requiredBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related fieldAdvanced degree a plus (MBA, MS Accounting/Finance)Experience/Skills 8-12+ years of progressive experience in a family office, closely held or family-owned business, or public accounting environmentDemonstrated experience serving as a Controller or senior accounting professional with end-to-end responsibility for financial operationsDeep GAAP expertise and experience managing multi-entity accounting structures including trusts, partnerships, LLCs, and operating companiesHands-on experience managing bill pay, expense approvals, cash disbursements, and banking activitiesStrong investment accounting literacy, including monitoring, reconciliation, and reporting of investment activityExperience reviewing K-1s, investment statements, and coordinating with external advisorsHighly organized, detail-oriented, and process-drivenStrong judgment, discretion, and integrityAbility to work independently, manage recurring deadlines, and maintain strict confidentialityAccounting & Financial OperationsLead all general ledger accounting and financial reporting across all family-related entitiesPrepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statementsOversee and execute all bill payment activities including invoice intake, review, coding, approval, and disbursementEstablish and maintain bill pay controls, approval workflows, and documentation standardsManage personal, household, trust, and operating company expenses with professionalism and confidentialityManage cash balances, cash flow forecasting, and liquidity planningOversee banking relationships and treasury processesReconcile all bank accounts, brokerage accounts, credit cards, and loan accounts monthlyCoordinate with external tax advisors to ensure timely and accurate filingsMaintain internal controls, accounting policies, and proceduresManage budgets, expense tracking, and financial planning processesMaintain complete and accurate books and recordsInvestment Accounting & MonitoringMaintain accurate investment records including capital calls, contributions, distributions, fees, and valuationsReconcile investment activity between custodians, managers, and accounting recordsReview fund statements, K-1s, and quarterly investment reportsPrepare consolidated investment and net worth reportingCoordinate capital calls and distributions with cash flow and bill payment planningServe as liaison with external investment advisors for reporting and information flowThis role is responsible for investment accounting, monitoring, and reporting and does not include discretionary investment decision-making.Family Office AdministrationServe as primary accounting and financial operations contact for principals, advisors, and vendorsSupport trust administration, estate planning coordination, and insurance trackingPrepare materials for periodic financial reviewsMaintain reporting templates, schedules, and financial calendarsEnsure appropriate separation and controls between personal, trust, and operating company financesOther Responsibilities Maintain financial systems and reporting toolsContinuously improve processes, controls, and efficiencyPerform other duties as assigned#cc
