Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP is looking for a Professional Responsibility Attorney based in the West Coast. Willkie is an elite international law firm of approximately 1,300 lawyers located in 16 offices in six countries.The Professional Responsibility Attorney will work closely with the Assistant General Counsel and other members of the Office of General Counsel (“OGC”) to manage risk and other legal affairs of the Firm. The ideal candidate will have three to five years of comparable law firm experience in litigation or corporate practice or conflicts/ethics/OGC roles with a JD and an active bar license in good standing. We are willing to consider hybrid out of one our California offices (Los Angeles, Palo Alto, or San Francisco office) or a remote role based in California, with travel to the Los Angeles office as needed.At Willkie, we believe great people are the key to our success. If you are looking to work in a friendly, collaborative environment that affords unique opportunities to expand your professional development, this role is for you.Assist with review of preliminary conflicts searches and other tasks as needed to help the attorneys on the Conflicts team.Provide substantive direction to attorneys and non-lawyer staff on conflicts issues, ethical walls, compliance with rules of professional conduct, state bar requirements, privilege, and Firm policies.Review engagement letters, outside counsel guidelines, and RFP/client due diligence responses.Prepare and coordinate obtaining conflict waivers and follow waiver processes for clients with unique requirements.Review Firm contracts with vendors and other third parties.Research ethics, professional responsibility, and other matters on which the OGC is asked to advise Firm attorneys and staff.Work with various Firm constituencies to implement document holds.Assist with responding to client file requests received by the Firm.Assist with CLEs and training materials on ethics and professional responsibility issues.Perform other duties and projects as assigned.Ability to be team-oriented and collaborate effectively with all levels of Firm attorneys and staff.Excellent interpersonal, communication, counseling, organizational, and analytical skills, as well as detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.Ability to provide practical legal advice that is informed by the Firm’s strategic, business, and professional needs.Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality, personal integrity, ethics, responsibility, ownership, and attention to detail.Ability to sit at a desk most of the working day and walk short distancesNeeds manual dexterity, speed and accuracy in handling office equipmentAbility to work efficiently and accurately in an atmosphere of frequent interruptionAbility to work in close proximity to other individualsAbility to carry light objects, e.g., files, small objects and supplies a short distance.ExemptUSD $195,000.00 - USD $210,000.00 /Yr.The salary range for this role represents the Firm’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent upon a number of factors, including but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant experience, qualifications and location.
