This role is responsible for managing scope, schedule, budget, and quality while coordinating multidisciplinary teams and serving as a key client-facing leader. The successful candidate will bring strong technical architectural expertise, proven leadership, and the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects with urgency, accountability, and consistency of standards.Project Management & DeliveryLead architectural design and documentation from planning through constructionDevelop and manage scope, schedule, budget, staffing, and deliverablesManage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining quality and consistencyAnticipate challenges, establish priorities, and respond with urgencySupport proposal preparation, scopes, and fee developmentClient & Stakeholder EngagementServe as the primary architectural point of contact for clients and project partnersLead meetings, present design solutions, and communicate decisions effectivelyCoordinate closely with internal disciplines and external consultantsDesign Excellence & Technical OversightChampion high-quality design and technically sound documentationEnsure compliance with codes, accessibility, safety, agency standards, and best practicesLead internal reviews to ensure alignment, coordination, and design integrityProvide construction-phase support, including RFIs, submittals, site visits, and punch listsLeadership & Team DevelopmentProvide direction, guidance, and mentorship to project teamsPromote disciplined project execution, accountability, and continuous improvementHelp cultivate a culture of quality, consistency, and professional excellenceRequired QualificationsU.S. Citizenship is requireddue to the nature of the projects supportedLicensed Architect (RA) in NY or NJ (or ability to obtain reciprocal licensure)Minimum 8 years of progressively responsible architectural experienceDemonstratedexperience with transit, rail, or transportation facilitiesProven ability tomanage multiple projects simultaneouslyStrong knowledge of building codes, life-safety, accessibility, and technical designExceptional communication and presentation skillsDemonstrated ability to establish priorities, maintain focus, and act with asense of urgencyAutoCAD proficiencyPreferred QualificationsExperience withK-12 and/or educational facilitiesExperience with Public Housing projectsExperience working with public agencies or institutional clientsProficiency with Revit.Experience working in a BIM environmentFamiliarity with alternative delivery models (Design-Build, CM/GC, etc.)LEED accreditation or other sustainability credentialsSYSTRA USA provides a benefits package including medical, dental, 401k and other offerings that focus on providing health and financial stability throughout the employee’s career.SYSTRA USA is an equal opportunity employer committed to a diverse workforce.
