Description Tammy Power, Recruiting Manager with Robert Half is looking for a Senior Accountant to join a dynamic team in Bakersfield, California. This role is vital for ensuring accurate financial processes, maintaining compliance, and supporting project-based operations. The ideal candidate will excel in managing accounting functions, collaborating with leadership, and driving efficiency in financial reporting and billing. Responsibilities: u2022 Perform weekly accounts payable processing and reconciliations, ensuring vendor and client profiles are up-to-date in the accounting system. u2022 Oversee accounts receivable activities, monitoring past-due balances and coordinating with internal teams to support collections and client communications. u2022 Manage month-end closing procedures, including consultant invoice processing, preparation of schedules, and basic financial reconciliations. u2022 Generate and review monthly project invoices, collaborating with project managers and leadership to ensure alignment with contracts and accuracy. u2022 Track and update project budgets, contract values, and consultant expenses within the firmu2019s project management platform. u2022 Produce periodic financial reports for leadership, summarizing metrics such as aging accounts, cash flow trends, and project performance. u2022 Maintain organized records for audits, tax filings, and external reporting requirements. u2022 Support the refinement of accounting procedures and internal controls, working closely with external accounting professionals as needed. Requirements u2022 Associate or bacheloru2019s degree in accounting, finance, business, or equivalent experience. u2022 Minimum of 3 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience, particularly in a project-based or detail-oriented services setting. u2022 Familiarity with general ledger, journal entries, and account reconciliation processes. u2022 Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word, with strong attention to detail and organizational skills. u2022 Experience managing recurring weekly and monthly accounting tasks. u2022 Effective written and verbal communication skills, with a collaborative approach to meeting deadlines. u2022 Knowledge of project-based billing concepts and accounting software such as QuickBooks or similar tools is preferred. u2022 Ability to adapt and grow into more senior roles within a detail-oriented services environment.
