Summary North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health Care System's Specialty Care Service is searching for a Physician (Cardiology Non Invasive) . This position is a dual appointment with the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Florida (UF) and is primarily based at the VA. Ideal applicants are those who want to contribute to the achievement of quality care standards, as well as the growth and development of a VA academic hospital program. Responsibilities This is an open continuous announcement that will remain open until filled. Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis. Eligible applicants will be referred each week for consideration until a selection is made. This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Recruitment/ Relocation Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): May be authorized for highly qualified applicants Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME) Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification) Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting The current VA physician staff consists of 3 interventionalists, 3 electrophysiologists, 6 noninvasive and 1 heart failure specialist.The Physician (Cardiology Non-Invasive) with an emphasis on heart failure will have training and experience managing advanced heart failure patients; and will have experience and training in novel advanced pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic heart failure treatment modalities. A summary of the duties is mentioned below but not limited to: Prescribes appropriate treatments, supervise, teach and provide consultation to other health care providers (nurse practitioners, medical students and residents rotating through cardiology service and cardiology fellows). Provides consultations to the medical and support staff on cardiology issues when needed Attends Cardiology Inpatient CCU and consult Service, outpatient clinics, EKG, Stress EKG, and performs other procedures as appropriate; attends staff meetings; performance of chart reviews; coordinates with other providers regarding patient care issues; documents electronic health record; performs history and physicals within 24 hours of request; performs outpatient encounters; documents consult notes; and processes new and renewal prescriptions Performs echocardiography, right heart catheterizations, exercise and pharmacologic stress testing, Holter monitor and electrocardiogram interpretation, diagnosis and management of arrhythmias and Ischemic Heart Disease Able to identify and assist with work up of pre- and post- LVAD and heart transplant evaluations Co-manage post-heart transplant and post-LVAD patients with other VA and community hospitals Takes an active role in education and in the evaluation of the patient, deciding treatment/care options Serves on service level and/or facility committees as needed and participates in the facility peer review program Participates in the expanded use of clinical video telehealth (VVC and CVT)/electronic consultation (e-Consult) to improve access to cardiology care May serve on committees, participates in quality assurance programs, assist facility in meeting established performance measures in the areas of Cardiology and such other duties assigned by the Chief of Medicine Works closely with all staff to ensure compliance with National, Network, and local performance standards Position requires candidate to work as an attending physician, responsible for supervising the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Florida (UF) trainees-Internal Medicine residents and Cardiology fellows. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm (Note: Work schedules are determined and approved by the supervisor. The incumbent may be required to work various shifts on a permanent or temporary basis based on facility/patient care needs).
