Job Description Millwright - Nuclear A Nuclear Millwright is a highly skilled professional responsible for fabricating, installing, and maintaining machinery and equipment within a nuclear facility. This role involves working from field sketches, shop drawings, and blueprints to ensure precise and reliable operation of critical systems. The position requires a deep understanding of mechanical systems, precision measurement, and safety protocols. Must be able to obtain nuclear unescorted access, including meeting fitness for duty requirements. Essential Functions: + Perform all job duties safely according to job requirements. + Demonstrate proper use and care of hand tools. + Demonstrate proper use and care of basic measuring devices. + Lubricate equipment, machinery, or components per manufacturer's specifications. + Demonstrate proper selection and use of mechanical fasteners. + Demonstrate proper use and care of portable power tools. + Demonstrate proper use and care of stationary power equipment for machinery. + Fabricate items from field sketches and shop drawings. + Create accurate field sketches. + Demonstrate proper use and care of precision measuring tools. + Read and interpret detailed blueprints. + Perform detailed layout work. + Establish equipment or machinery center lines and elevations. + Perform precision installation of equipment, machinery, or components, including anchoring, leveling, and aligning. + Maintain a clean work area and ensure good housekeeping. + Perform cleanup duties. + Perform craft-related math. + Demonstrate proper use and care of oxygen and acetylene equipment. + Perform other related duties as assigned. Required Education and Experience: + High School diploma or equivalent. + 3+ years of experience. + Prior nuclear power plant experience, highly desired. + Must be able to obtain nuclear unescorted access, including fitness for duty requirements. + Successful completion of all training including, Radiation Worker Training, Plant Access Training, Fitness for Duty, etc. + Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions. + Ability to assemble and disassemble objects and operate small equipment and power tools. + Availability for shift work, if needed. + Ability to support other crafts as requested. + Ability to work at varying heights, in cramped quarters, extreme heat and/or cold, and loud environments (above 89 decibels). + Knowledge of relevant processes and procedures. + Ability to obtain and maintain knowledge of technical manuals and procedures. + Ability to pass specific training and qualifications. + Willingness to work overtime, including shift work, weekends, and holidays as needed. + Ability to pass all background and screening requirements, including drug and/or alcohol screening. Physical Demands: + Visual acuity, balancing, stooping, reaching, walking, manual dexterity, grasping, feeling, hearing, talking. + Capacity to think, concentrate, and focus for long periods. + Ability to read and write complex documents in English. + Capacity to reason and make sound decisions. + Ability to express thoughts orally. + Strategic thinking and planning for growth. + Ability to walk job sites and climb. + Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
