Electric Generation System Specialist I ELECTRIC GENERATION SYSTEM SPECIALIST I $8,983.00 - $11,115.00 per Month New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable. Final Filing Date: 2/11/2026 Job Description and Duties The Renewables Portfolio Standard (RPS) is one of Californiau2019s key programs for advancing renewable energy. The program sets continuously escalating renewable energy procurement requirements for the stateu2019s load-serving entities. The California Energy Commission (Energy Commission) verifies the eligibility of renewable energy procured for RPS compliance for all load-serving entities and determines RPS compliance for publicly owned utilities. Under the direction of the Program and Project Supervisor, for the RPS Verification and Compliance Unit within the Clean Energy Infrastructure Branch of the Siting, Transmission and Environmental Protection (STEP) division, the incumbent performs or directs varied and complex analytical and consultative assignments in the evaluation, strategic planning, and development projects regarding verification of and compliance with Californiau2019s RPS program. Analysis performed by the incumbent provides decision-makers and the public with timely, useful information and objective analyses of RPS Program compliance, electricity systems, markets, and issues. The incumbent will interface with and lead stakeholder outreach at all levels including state and federal agencies, load serving entities, local communities, Tribal Nations, and environmental non-governmental organizations; and participate in interagency workgroups, and review documents related to Californiau2019s RPS program and achievement impacts from renewable energy projects, including planning and conducting public workshops. The incumbent will also work cooperatively with the different Energy Commission program staff involved in electric system infrastructure planning and development activities to ensure the successful implementation of the RPS program. The incumbent may serve as a project lead over other technical and analytic staff. Working Conditions The CEC supports a hybrid workplace model with office-based and remote-centered workers. Mathematical modeling design, use, and techniques, including the design, maintenance and/ or use of database systems. 10. Excellent written and oral communication skills. 11.
