Reference #: 18843Division:Philadelphia MainProject Location(s):Philadelphia, PA 19019 USAMinimum Years Experience:Travel Involved:Job Type:RegularJob Classification:ExperiencedEducation:Job Family:FinanceCompensation:Salaried ExemptPosition Description: Manage overall day-to-day activity of office accounting department and oversight of all office accounting staff.Reports to: Financial Manager, Operational FinanceEssential Duties & Responsibilities:Create supportive environment to develop high performing finance team, provide training opportunities and engage in mentoring relationships.Lead accountants and other related team members, provide timely performance feedback and contribute to performance appraisals during annual performance cycle, utilizing talent management systems.Review quarterly account reconciliations and make recommendations for improvement to Financial Manager.Review monthly G&A monitor and assist Financial Manager in updating forecast.Analyze and update estimating recovery monitor and review with Financial Manager and Chief Estimator.Manage petty cash, payroll and joint venture bank accounts and reconciliations.Review and approve monthly journal entries.Assist in resolution of daily office issues including vendor disputes, escalate to Financial Manager as appropriate.Review all office contracts and lease agreements prior to submission to Financial Manager for approval.Ensure builders risk log is complete and insurance coverage is in place.Review and approve orders from external suppliers.Review charitable contribution requests and ensure compliance with policy.Other activities, duties, and responsibilities as assigned.Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field, and 5 years of related experience or u00a0equivalent combination of education and/or experienceConstruction industry experience preferredSupervisory/management of a small team preferredThorough application of accounting principles (i.e. journal entries, general ledger)Analytic ability to review and assess financial data, interpret trends, and recognize inconsistenciesUnderstands accounting implications of various contract termsDemonstrates understanding of cash flows and implements procedures to optimize interest incomeKnowledgeable of policies and standards to ensure compliance while identifying financial risksDisplays actions related to profitability and risk management and effectively communicates risk management issuesExercises independent judgment and discretion with the ability to identify problems and initiate corrective actionAble to apply innovation to offer and implement suggestions to improve overall operationsAbility to manage many activities, requests, and short-cycle deadlines simultaneouslyAble to observe performance and effectively provide performance feedbackProficient with financial system applications, MS Excel, and MS OfficeSelf-motivated, adaptable and flexible to operate with minimal direction and little or no supervision while working in complex and changing environment.Professional written and verbal communication skillsHigh degree of organizational skills with exceptional attention to detailSome travelPhysical Demands: u00a0The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. u00a0Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. u00a0Performance of the required duties will require physical ability to climb permanent and temporary stairs, passenger use of construction personnel hoists, ability to climb ladders and negotiate work areas under construction. u00a0Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. u00a0Performing this job requires use of hands o finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, sit, talk and hear, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. u00a0Employee must occasionally lift and/or move heavy weight.Work Environment: u00a0The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of the job. u00a0Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. u00a0While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works on-site at the construction work site where the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts;
