Job Description Nuclear Millwright Superintendent Position Overview Looking to staff this position to support multiple Nuclear stations in the South and Northeast. The Nuclear Millwright Superintendent provides leadership, direction, and technical expertise for all millwright operations within a nuclear facility environment. This role is responsible for supervising the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical equipment critical to safe and efficient nuclear plant operations. The superintendent ensures that all work complies with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies, while fostering a strong safety culture and facilitating team development within the nuclear services business. Key Responsibilities u2022 Oversee and coordinate daily activities of nuclear millwright crews, ensuring alignment with project schedules, safety protocols, and quality standards. u2022 Supervise the installation, alignment, maintenance, and repair of turbines, pumps, valves, compressors, and other complex mechanical equipment within a nuclear facility. u2022 Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to plan and assign work. u2022 Conduct site inspections and audits to maintain adherence to safety and regulatory guidelines set forth by the NRC, OSHA, and other relevant agencies. u2022 Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other craft supervisors to support outage work, plant upgrades, and emergency repairs. u2022 Diagnose mechanical failures and lead troubleshooting efforts to minimize downtime. u2022 Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs and continuous improvement initiatives. u2022 Provide training, mentorship, and performance evaluations for millwright personnel; foster skills development and team engagement. u2022 Ensure proper documentation of maintenance activities, safety incidents, and compliance records. u2022 Monitor inventory of parts, tools, and equipment; coordinate procurement and logistics as required. u2022 Participate in project planning meetings and contribute to job cost estimating and schedule development. Qualifications u2022 High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or associate degree in mechanical, industrial, or related field preferred. u2022 Minimum 8 years of experience as a millwright in industrial or power generation environments, with at least 3 years in nuclear facility operations. u2022 Demonstrated leadership experience in a supervisor or superintendent capacity. u2022 Strong knowledge of nuclear industry safety, quality, and regulatory requirements. u2022 Proficient in interpreting technical documents, blueprints, and schematics. u2022 Understanding of nuclear plant systems, outage protocols, and work clearance processes. u2022 Valid millwright or mechanical trades certification preferred. u2022 Current OSHA and radiation worker safety training certifications highly desirable. Physical & Work Environment Requirements u2022 Ability to stand, walk, and work in confined spaces or elevated areas for extended periods. u2022 Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds and operating hand and power tools as needed. u2022 Willingness to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, especially during plant outages. u2022 Comply with all site access, background check, and fitness-for-duty requirements for nuclear facilities.
