JOB REQUIREMENTS: The Department of Public Works is seeking anEngineering Technician (Facilities & Bridges). Help Green Bay maintainand improve our bridges and public buildings From drafting contracts tooverseeing construction, your work will shape the City. Examples ofDuties: Prepares and reviews routine engineering and architecturalstudies and reports, contract specifications, quantity and costestimates, and contract payment documentation. Assists with biannualinspections of miscellaneous structures and bridges and developsmaintenance tasks list based on findings. Under the supervision of aconsultant, examine bridges to identify and document signs of wear orpotential issues such as corrosion, cracks or other vulnerabilities.Assit with implementation of maintenance to extend the service life ofexisting bridges. Coordinates monitoring, lubrication, parts inventory,and maintenance activities of City owned lift bridge. Develops andreviews construction documents for bridge and/or facility maintenanceand improvement projects. Inspects Bridge and/or Facility constructionprojects ranging from basic to advanced projects for compliance with theplans and specifications, and other applicable codes. Projects inspectedmay include bridge repairs (concrete, steel, wood) and culverts,underground utilities, pavement, painting, mechanical systems, HVAC,lighting, plumbing, architectural repairs, etc. Performs manual and ACADdrafting assignments. Design projects may include bridge rehabilitation,bridge deck repairs and sealing, commercial roof (EPDM, metal, asphaltshingles), storage building construction, masonry repairs, door andwindow replacement, flooring, faade repairs, ceiling repairs, paintingand coatings projects, cabinetry, etc. Performs other duties asassigned. OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge,Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of the principles, practices and materialsof public works and building construction. Knowledge of architecturaland engineering principles and practices related to constructionprojects. Good computer skills including experience with ACAD, wordprocessing and spreadsheet software. Good record keeping andproblem-solving skills. Good oral and written communication skills.Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.Ability to utilize a computer and the required software. Ability toeffectively communicate with co-workers and members of the public andprivate sector. Ability to work the required hours of the position.Physical Requirements: Ability to perform the following activities:Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds. Frequent standing, walking,sitting, bending, stooping. Ability to focus for long periods of time onprojects. Ability to reach and climb. Ability to climb and hike in roughterrain.
