Apply Today Job Summary and Qualifications As an Advanced Clinical Oncology ROE Pharmacist, you will be responsible for monitoring, evaluating, and making recommendations to assure the appropriate and effective use of pharmaceuticals for patient care. You shall use the medication process to assess, plan, intervene when necessary, implement and evaluate patient care in compliance with hospital and division policies. You will collaborate with the Clinical Pharmacy Manager u2013 Hematology and Oncology and others to develop oncology policies and procedures, maintain oncology formulary compliance and implement informatics-related procedures to ensure optimal patient care for oncology populations. What you will do in this role: + As an Advanced Clinical Oncology ROE Pharmacist, you will prevent harm to oncology patients through consistent medication management and order review, writing, and processing. + You will provide oncology patient care activities to ensure safe and effective drug therapy in a cost-effective manner utilizing visibility and communication with facilities and formulary management. + You will be of service to patients, physicians, nurses, and other pharmacists for oncology pharmacy support via remote communication. + You will maintain and improve job knowledge, skills, and competence in adult and oncology pharmaceutical care. + You will cover facility for oncology medication management drug information questions, pharmacy orders, consultation services, therapeutic drug monitoring and dosing protocols, nutritional support, and dosing issues. + You will use clinical pharmacist workflow systems including the clinical workflow tool and HCA core elements to monitor patient care. + You will assist in creating a facility pharmacist education and competency plan for oncology pharmacist skills. + You will optimize oncology operational and clinical workflow by utilizing available technology to remotely support improving timely availability of medications, optimization of order sets, and following local formularies. + You will assist with the selection strategies and safe use of alternative oncology medications in response to medication shortages. + You will facilitate the identification, resolution, implementation, and communication of cost-effective oncology medication-use issues in collaboration with the medical staff. + You will assist in developing appropriate, safe, and cost-effective drug therapy protocols/policies related to oncology. + You will conduct profile reviews, antibiotic de-escalation, and pharmacokinetic monitoring on oncology patients. What qualifications you will need: + Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy + ASHP-accredited oncology residency or equivalent experience preferred + Three years of hospital pharmacy experience in an oncology-related pharmacy position preferred + Board Certification in Oncology Pharmacy Services preferred + Experience in Meditech preferred + Current Registered Pharmacist licensed by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy or + Licensed Pharmacist in the state of Texas + Personal residence outside a 40-mail radius of the facility Methodist Hospital opened in 1963 as the first hospital in the now internationally acclaimed South Texas Medical Center.
