Senior Systems Engineer

PeopleTec is seeking a Senior System Engineer to join our team in Huntsville, AL. In this hands-on technical role, you will design, automate, deploy, and maintain mission-critical server infrastructure.You’ll leverage your deep expertise in Linux, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform & Ansible), and containerization (Docker) to drive efficiency, reliability, and security in a dynamic, cleared environment. If you’re passionate about solving complex problems, mentoring team members, and delivering high-impact solutions, we want to hear from you!Required Skills/Experience:Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of server solutions while collaborating closely with cross-functional teamsDevelop and maintain infrastructure as Code using Terraform to provision and manage virtual machines in vCenter environmentsCreate and maintain Ansible playbooks for automated configuration and hardening of Linux (RHEL/Ubuntu) and Windows serversImplement and manage containerized workloads using DockerPerform hands-on installation, configuration, patching, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Linux/Windows server OS, hardware, and associated technologiesApply security best practices, including STIG compliance, server hardening, vulnerability management, and secure configurationMonitor server performance, identify potential issues proactively, and implement improvements for reliability and scalabilityTroubleshoot complex infrastructure problems, coordinate changes, and communicate effectively with stakeholdersDocument systems, processes, configurations, and participate in After Action Reviews to capture and share best practicesMentor junior engineers and contribute to team knowledge sharingSupport special projectsOccasional travel (0-25%)Ability and willingness to sit at the customer siteAn active Top Secret isrequiredupon hirewith SCI eligibilityand must bemaintainedduring employment.Education Requirements:Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a related discipline with 5 years of professional experience; or Master’s degree with 3 years of professional experience; or PhD with no experienceDesired Skills:Experience creating Bash and/or PowerShell scripting for automation.Knowledge of monitoring tools, database services (installation/monitoring), and web servicesExperience in DoD/government environments and compliance requirementsInstalling, monitoring, and maintaining database servicesInstalling, monitoring, and maintaining web servicesTroubleshooting network connectivity issuesMonitor server performance to identify potential issuesPeople First.
