Shipyard Test Organization (D272) is seeking highly motivated candidates on backshift to lead and instruct STO-Mechanical Testers in the safe conduct of Virginia Class Steam and Electric Plant systems, Weapons, and Hull, Mechanical and Auxiliary systems which may include testing on Sea Trials. The successful candidate will be skilled in the proper planning and preparation required to execute Non-Nuclear Testing in accordance with testing guidelines with the highest level of formality and procedural compliance.Duties include but are not limited to:Test sequence planning in accordance with Virginia Class playbookFacilitate instruction of Mechanical Testers on the deck plateAbility to accomplish complex testing and troubleshooting of Steam Plant, HPA, Weapons and Hydraulic systemsComplete Test Form review IAW CONOPs Test Form Prosecution, participate in Surveillance program and perform Safety walkthroughsPartner with Trades on deckplate for system turnover, initial pressurization, troubleshooting and correction to increase workforce efficiency and first time qualityConduct professional interface with variance entities as needed: Nuclear Test, USN, NAVSEA, Naval Reactors, Engineering, and VendorsAbility to achieve and maintain Qualifications in Virginia Class Steam and Electric PlantAbility to read, interpret and teach isometric and mechanical system diagram knowledge to perform Lockout/Tag-out of ship systems in accordance with shipyard standard proceduresDemonstrate proper operation of ships systems both on hull and in learning module settingOperate with the highest level of integrity and formality with strict compliance on material history and handlingFlexible schedule to accommodate major milestone and key event testing as requiredRequired:High school diploma or GED equivalent3+ years of experience in Mechanical, Shipyard Test or equivalent Navy or Military experiencePreferred:Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering; other Engineering disciplines will be consideredNaval Nuclear Propulsion Program ExperienceCurrent DOD Secret ClearanceCandidates must be able to read & work from system diagrams, blue prints and schematicsClimbing, Crawling, Kneeling, Light Lifting, Medium Lifting, Pulling, Pushing, Reaching, Stooping, TwistingCold, Dry, Dusty, Hot, Inside, Noise, Oily, Outside, Wet
