Communicates effectively with patients, families, and healthcare staff. Ensures the proper handling and delivery of medical equipment and supplies. Participates in ongoing training and development to enhance skills and knowledge. Other duties as assigned. Assists in the safe transfers of patients from bed to stretcher or wheelchair. Facilitates the safe, efficient, and expedited movement of patients using stretchers, wheelchairs, beds, and cribs. Transports patient-related items such as belongings, paperwork, labs, and equipment efficiently. Accurately records transport details and reports necessary information using the Transportation system. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: u2022 People Skills: Ability to understand customersu2019 needs and respond to them in a pro-active, courteous, professional, and efficient manner. u2022 Communication Skills: Able to communicate in English using good diction, and respond to peoples needs in a pleasant and courteous manner as perceived by the customer, and as appropriate to infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients. u2022 Technical Skills: Ability to operate stretchers, beds, and wheelchairs. u2022 Must be proficient in the English language and able to read, write, and follow oral instructions. u2022 Effective verbal and listening communication skills. u2022 Service/Quality focused to meet a wide range of needs. u2022 Ability to navigate to/from various locations throughout the facility. u2022 Problem solver that can think quickly in cases of emergencies or unusual situations. u2022 Ability to multi-task and work at a fast pace. u2022 Displays neat, professional appearance with a smile. u2022 Physical ability to withstand frequent to prolonged walking, standing, pushing, pulling, and transferring patients. u2022 Must be able to use a computer for patient information and basic department clerical functions. u2022 Excellent Customer Service skills. u2022 Ability to quickly learn and use software packages and equipment relevant to the department. u2022 Ability to quickly learn and follow departmental policies and procedures. u2022 Ability to work collaboratively with peers, coworkers, clinicians, and other departments in meeting patient care standards. u2022 Ability to communicate effectively with all staff, patients, and physicians to ensure quality service and avoid delays in patient care. u2022 Ability to proficiently perform all care activities safely and in accordance with standards of care. u2022 Ability to follow patient identification/verification process prior to transporting all patients.
