Eatonu2019s ES AMER NAS division is currently seeking a Solutions Architect Engineer. This is a home-based position and candidates must reside within the central region of the United States to be considered for this position. What youu2019ll do: P osition Overview: Join us at the forefront of the energy transitionu2014where your expertise will empower utilities to innovate, modernize and serve communities more reliably and sustainably than ever before. The Solution Architect acts as a bridge between the utility engineering, operations and IT teams, Eaton digital product lines and technical experts, offer management and third-party technology providersu2013 in bringing together a software solution that translates the client business problems to technical software requirements and ultimately a software solution. The focus of this role will be on u201csolutionsu201d design, development and selling, which encompass Eaton software, Eaton digital platform, third party software technology, Eaton equipment and associated implementation/customization services. In this function you will: u2022 Lead Eaton technical sales engagement with clients in the utility industry (IOUs, municipalities and cooperatives) for positive outcomes, consultative and solution selling opportunities; be able to articulate the solution to C-level executives as well as technical operations teams for clients u2022 Provide pre-sales technical support for clients that includes work with internal Eaton teams and third-party technology providers to identify client business problems, facilitate requirements design thinking sessions, architecture presentations, product feature descriptions and value propositions and software solution demos u2022 Work with the digital and regional sales teams, as well as the proposals team within the region to develop software value propositions for key utilities stakeholders such as executives, leaders in engineering, operations, finance and IT, and excel at putting together compelling proposals for Eaton software products and solutions u2022 Respond to RFP documents, put together solution requirements and design, system customization and configuration, align service offerings and ultimately be the clientu2019s point of contact for maintaining the utilityu2019s software solution roadmap u2022 Develop templates and best practices for software solution deployment into utility client accounts and work with the regional sales and services professionals u2022 Help with existing and new account planning and strategy to bring in Eaton software products and solutions and grow software revenue in the region; one will provide technical and sales consulting in support for major accounts u2022 Support Eaton partnerships with software technology providers, stay current with emerging technologies in the utility space, develop and bring forward to Eaton leadership novel concepts and proposed adjacencies that may strengthen our market offering u2022 Be an ambassador of Eatonu2019s software products and solutions at industry conferences and marketing events Qualifications: Required (Basic) Qualifications: u2022 Bacheloru2019s degree in a STEM field from an accredited institution u2022 Minimum seven (7) years of deep domain experience using, developing and deploying software for utilities u2022 Possess a valid driveru2019s license u2022 No relocation is offered for this position. All candidates must currently reside within the central region of the United States to be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation. Preferred Qualifications: u2022 Bacheloru2019s degree in Computer Science or Engineering u2022 Five plus (5+) years of technical sales experience with contemporary software technologies like cloud/SaaS, AI/ML, edge computing solutions, analytics software packages and cybersecurity u2022 Five plus (5+) years of consultative software selling experience to executive and technical buyers in the utility industry, developing and translating business use cases to solution requirements and architecture documentation Skills: Position Criteria: u2022 Possess excellent communication skills u2022 Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future u2022 Highly fluent with emerging utility industry trends and implications on customers: T&D planning, secure device communications, demand response, microgrid, virtual power plant & system protection u2022 Technology leadership, self-motivated and drive to work with internal Eaton and external (partner, client) stakeholders for client satisfaction u2022 Ability to communicate with all levels (executive, technical), both internally and externally, and manage through long term relationships and influence u2022 Collaborative with the ability to develop long-term working relationships with the utility software product management directors, product managers, delivery and engineering teams; leverages influence to drive new ideas for growth u2022 Drives innovation through a culture of learning, front-line empowerment risk taking and obsessive customer focus u2022 Serves as a change agent for our customers/clients, sales organization, working through influence, trust and evangelism of new ideas for software solution development and selling; a champion in bridging the gap between business users, operations and information technology users u2022 Possess excellent client/customer-facing skills with the ability to represent Eatonu2019s digitalization/software journey with customers and be able to articulate Eatonu2019s software value propositions u2022 Possess strategic business acumen and complex problem-solving skills in a highly matrixed organization u2022 Ability to travel up to 25% The compensation range for this full-time position includes base pay and target sales performance incentive. This position has a target total compensation range of $165,000 - $242,000. Base salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
