Legal Operations Specialist u2013 Legal Support

Description Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Legal Billing & Support Specialist to join their legal operations team on a partu2011time contract basis. This role becomes available as responsibilities previously handled by a blended Legal/AP team member have transitioned fully to Accounts Payable. The specialist will support legal billing processes, vendor coordination, and administrative functions to ensure the smooth management of incoming legal invoices and related documentation. The ideal candidate has experience with legal billing softwareu2014SimpleLegal/CounselGO preferredu2014and a solid understanding of how legal billing works across matter types, vendors, and law firms. WKey Responsibilities + Process, review, and route incoming legal invoices using SimpleLegal/CounselGO or similar legal billing platforms. + Ensure accuracy and compliance with billing guidelines, matter codes, rate structures, and approval workflows. + Identify and resolve billing discrepancies, inconsistencies, or improperly submitted invoices. + Communicate with law firms and internal stakeholders regarding billing issues, required corrections, or missing documentation. + Track, categorize, and maintain records of legal spend, invoice status, and matter billing activity. + Support Legal Operations with administrative tasks as needed, including document management, status reporting, and vendor coordination. + Collaborate with AP when needed to ensure timely payment processing and alignment between systems. Requirements + Experience with SimpleLegal/CounselGO or comparable legal billing systems (e.g., CounselLink, Tymetrix, Legal Tracker, Collaborati). + Prior experience working within the legal industryu2014legal operations, law firm billing, corporate legal, or similar. + Strong understanding of the types of legal invoices (litigation, transactional, regulatory, outside counsel, etc.) and how to route/bill them appropriately. + High attention to detail with strong organizational and timeu2011management skills. + Ability to manage confidential information with professionalism. Preferred: + Familiarity with eu2011billing guidelines, UTBMS codes, LEDES formats, and law firm/vendor billing structures. + Experience supporting legal teams or operations in a corporate environment. u2022Soft Skills + Excellent communication with both internal teams and external legal vendors. + Proactive, resourceful, and comfortable operating with minimal supervision. + Ability to quickly learn systems and workflows.
