Description The Platform Engineering team is seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer with deep expertise in Datadog and modern observability practices. The ideal candidate has strong experience implementing end to end monitoring solutions, building scalable observability platforms, and enabling engineering teams with actionable insights into system performance, reliability, and health. You should be passionate about improving system visibility, reducing MTTR, enhancing developer experience, and building automated, data driven observability frameworks across distributed systems. This role involves close collaboration with cross functional teams to design, implement, and optimize observability tooling, while driving the modernization of monitoring platforms from on premises to cloud or SaaS. u2022 4u20136+ years of experience in software engineering, SRE, DevOps, or platform engineering. u2022 Strong hands on experience with Datadog or similar observability platforms (New Relic, Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk). u2022 Strong understanding of containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes). u2022 Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred; Azure or GCP acceptable). u2022 Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform strongly preferred; Ansible a plus). u2022 Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, Java, .NET, Go, or Node.js). u2022 Strong Linux fundamentals and shell scripting skills. u2022 Excellent problem solving skills and a proactive approach to reliability and performance. u2022 Strong communication and collaboration skills. u2022 Ability to mentor junior engineers and influence observability best practices. u2022 Bacheloru2019s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field. u2022 Relevant certifications (AWS, Kubernetes, Datadog Observability, DevOps) are a plus. Skills Cloud, Aws, Software development, Python, Node, telemetry, automation, Devops, Kubernetes Top Skills Details Cloud,Aws,Software development,Python,Node,telemetry,automation,Devops,Kubernetes Additional Skills & Qualifications Key Responsibilities u2022 Design and Maintain Observability Platform: Build, enhance, and operate Datadog based observability solutions across applications, infrastructure, and cloud environments. u2022 Developer Enablement Sessions: Lead training, workshops, and office hours to educate teams on observability best practices, tooling, and instrumentation patterns. u2022 Application Instrumentation: Collaborate with development teams to instrument services for APM, distributed tracing, custom metrics, and RUM. u2022 End to End Log Management: Implement and optimize log ingestion pipelines, parsing rules, retention strategies, and cost efficient log routing within Datadog. u2022 Monitoring & Alerting Frameworks: Develop dashboards, monitors, SLOs/SLIs, and alerting strategies to ensure system reliability and rapid incident detection. u2022 On Call Rotation: Participate in an on call schedule to support observability platform health, troubleshoot telemetry issues, and assist during incidents. u2022 Automation & IaC: Automate observability configurations using Terraform or similar tools to ensure consistency, scalability, and repeatability. u2022 Cross Team Collaboration: Work closely with SRE, DevOps, and application teams to integrate observability into CI/CD pipelines and the SDLC. u2022 Operational Support & Troubleshooting: Investigate gaps in telemetry, resolve performance anomalies, and provide daily support for Datadog integrations and usage. u2022 Documentation & Continuous Improvement: Maintain documentation for observability standards and drive ongoing improvements to reduce MTTR and enhance platform maturity.
