Job Description Harborview Medical Center- Eye Institute has an outstanding opportunity for an Ophthalmic Technician Trainee. PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBLITIES + Review medical records and note need for specific testing prior to physician examination + u00b7 Report results to physician by documenting in the electronic medical record and/or providing verbal reports + u00b7 Document chief complaint and medical history in the electronic medical record + u00b7 Build skills to perform tests such as visual acuity assessments, visual field determinations, intraocular pressure checks using a variety of devices, and other objective eye assessments + u00b7 Build skills to perform Humphrey Visual Field testing, and other imaging modalities + u00b7 Perform Slit lamp examinations + u00b7 Build skills to perform manifest refractions + u00b7 Build skills to assist with minor in-office procedures + u00b7 Under physician direction administer topical medications, such as eye drops, ointments, and irrigating solutions to the eye + u00b7 Greet all customers, patients and families with a smile; communicate pleasantly and in a manner that optimizes service excellence + u00b7 Promote and model an atmosphere of respect for human dignity and the uniqueness of each person encountered + u00b7 Ensure positive and professional first impression of the clinic + u00b7 Monitor and ensure pleasant atmosphere and patient throughput the waiting areas + u00b7 Advocate for the patient/family by locating appropriate staff to address concerns if unable to resolve independently first + u00b7 Appropriately directs patients and others to the other departments across the medical center as needed + u00b7 Act promptly and effectively in managing self, caring for patients, directing other employees and responding to administrative needs during an emergency situation + u00b7 Ability to rotate to satellite sites of service + u00b7 Other duties as assigned REQUIREMENTS + High school graduation + OR + GED Equivalent education/experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration ABOUT HARBORVIEW MEDICAL CENTER As the region's only Level I Trauma and verified burn center, Harborview Medical Center is a comprehensive healthcare facility owned by King County and operated by UW Medicine.
