Description School SummaryIndiana Connections Academy (INCA) is a tuition-free, virtual public school for students in grades K-12 throughout Indiana. INCAu2019s academic programming focuses on career readiness and offers students programs of study in various career pathways. INCA is authorized by Ball State University and governed by an independent Board of Directors. The school is operated by Indiana Online Learning Options, a nonprofit corporation, through a contract with Connections Academy of Indiana, LLC, to provide its educational program and other services. Position Summary and Responsibilities: Working from a home office in Indiana, the Middle School English/Language Arts Teacher will support the mission of the school, teach students, and virtually manage instructional programs. Through use of the phone calls, Class for Zoom sessions, and various curriculum and communication tools, they will consult regularly with students and caretakers/learning coaches to ensure that each student gains proficiency and demonstrates essential skills and standards for the course(s) taught. The Teacher will be responsible for the successful completion of the following tasks: u25cf Effectively guide all homeroom students and families through academic programming requirements: u25cb Maintain regular communication with students and parents/learning coaches;u25cb Advise students and families related to academics and high school readiness;u25cb Understand the requirements for and assist the facilitation of all required school testing, including ILEARN Checkpoints (remote) and the summative ILEARN (in person); u25cf Provide quality instruction and promote student achievement u25cb Plan data-driven instruction;u25cb Create and deliver standards-based, objective-driven instruction via web conferencing (Class for Zoom);u25cb Design and provide asynchronous instructional resources;u25cb Provide assessment feedback and complete all grading in a timely manner;u25cb Work collaboratively with other teachers as an active member of the Professional Learning Community;u25cb Support students and parents with learning strategies and provide additional assistance with daily assignments and projects;u25cb Consult with other teachers and staff learning specialists to develop alternate enrichment activities and modifications to assignments to increase student understanding;u25cb Provide targeted support to students through small group and individual instruction. u25cf Contribute to school culture and overall school operations: u25cb Participate in regional field trips and school events;u25cb Devise and implement virtual methods of creating and maintaining a u201cschool communityu201d;u25cb Collaborate with Special Populations teachers and School Counselors to ensure students and families are receiving appropriate communications, students are making adequate progress, and established goals are being met;u25cb Attend and participate in in-person and remote staff meetings;u25cb Participate in state testing events (may require overnight travel);u25cb Other duties as assigned.
