Summary The Smithsonian Institution is the world's largest museum, education, and research complex, with 21 museums and the National Zoo. This position is located in the office of Facilities Management and Reliability (OFMR). Responsibilities The Associate Director, Facilities Sustainability and Resilience, serves as the sustainability manager for OFMR and is responsible for developing, establishing, overseeing, and administering a comprehensive sustainability program in accordance with agency policy. In this position, you will: Work directly with other government agencies, Congress, and the White House to develop, coordinate and monitor sustainability initiatives and mandates such as those identified in Executive Orders Develop sustainability reports, presentations, or proposals for suppliers, employees, academia, media government officials, and organizations as well as public interest groups Function as the agency's authoritative SME. Represent the voice of the Smithsonian in sustainability. Prepare and implement sustainability policies, programs, directives, and other critical initiatives Prepare and execute the annual budget; monitor all budget activities; and recommend reallocations of budget resources as required. Defend budget proposals and prepare budget justifications Supervise a group of employees of various grades and positions. Provide advice, counsel, and instructions to subordinates on work and administrative matters Requirements Conditions of Employment Requires career/career-conditional status or eligibility. Qualifications Experience: You qualify for this position if you have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 level in the Federal Service. For this position, specialized experience is defined as developing, implementing, and managing sustainability programs. Collaborating with leadership, stakeholders, and government agencies to establish sustainability goals, policies, and performance measures. Overseeing and managing sustainability projects, including budget development and formulation. Your resume must be no more than two (2) pages and should clearly demonstrate how your experience aligns with the responsibilities and specialized experience required for this position.
