Job Descriptionu00a0u00a0General Purpose of Job:u00a0u00a0u00a0Provide occupational therapy treatment in order to restore function, prevent disability, reduce pain and maximize potential and quality of life following disease, injury or surgery under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist.u00a0Essential Duties:u00a0This job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis.u00a0u00a0Caregivers may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position.u00a0- Provide prescribed occupational therapy treatment to patients under the supervision of the occupational therapist: areas of treatment include range of motion, strength, tone, posture, gait, orthotic or prosthetic fit, sensorimotor function, massage, joint mobilization, exercises etc.- Employ principles of teaching and learning to educate patients and their families in the knowledge and skills that promote functional restoration of mobility.- Document all care given, and the patient response in the patient's medical record.- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the patient's care, rehabilitation programs, and related rehabilitation activities.- Maintain professional standards by participating in in-services and hospital / department requirements.- Delegates, directs, and supervises implementation of care to PCT, and occupational therapy assistant students.- Act as a resource to other disciplines in proper body mechanics, positioning techniques, early mobility, and transfer techniques.u00a0u00a0u00a0u00a0 Job Requirements ---------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- General Requirements u2022 State of Michigan Certification as an Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA). u2022 Biannual renewal of CPR u2022 BLS Certification (within 6 months of hire) and biannually thereafter. Work Experience None Education u2022 Associate Degree from an accredited Occupational Therapist Assistant Program.
