Job Description About the Compute Data Plane Team The Compute Data Plane team builds and operates the core infrastructure services that enable Oracleu2019s virtual machine offerings, disaster recovery, OS image management, health monitoring, orchestration, and cloud agents. These systems underpin the experiences of thousands of cloud customers and support massive scale with reliability, performance, and security. Position Overview: Senior Systems Engineer (IC4) We are seeking a technically exceptional and highly innovative Senior Systems Engineer (IC4) to help architect, build, and scale OCIu2019s Compute Data Plane. In this pivotal role, you will: u00b7 Lead the design and development of complex, global-scale compute infrastructureu2014powering millions of VMs and supporting diverse workloads across thousands of hypervisors. u00b7 Drive architectural decisions for disaster recovery automation, virtualization, agent-based management, and OS image provisioning. u00b7 Set technical direction for new features and enhancements, influencing both short-term deliveries and long-term strategy. u00b7 Mentor and guide engineering teams, setting the standard for technical excellence and best practices. u00b7 Engage with cross-functional leaders (product, security, reliability, operations) to deliver end-to-end solutions that meet Oracleu2019s standards for performance, security, and scalability. u00b7 Represent our team in technical forums, advocate for best-in-class engineering, and continuously raise the bar for quality in our deliverables. Responsibilities Key Responsibilities u00b7 Architect and build scalable, reliable, and secure compute and recovery solutions for OCI u00b7 Lead complex investigations, root cause analysis, and performance improvements at scale u00b7 Drive adoption of automation and monitoring for health, triage, remediation, and diagnostics u00b7 Define standards for coding, testing, deployment, and operational excellence within the team u00b7 Coach, mentor, and review work from less-senior engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration and growth u00b7 Identify and evaluate new technologies and technical approaches for continuous product evolution u00b7 Present technical designs and roadmap initiatives to senior leadership and cross-org stakeholders Qualifications u00b7 Bacheloru2019s or Masteru2019s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience u00b7 8+ years of experience in designing, implementing, and operating high-scale distributed systems or infrastructure platforms u00b7 4+ years of experience with OS kernel internals (e.g., memory management, device drivers, or kernel subsystems) u00b7 Experience in systems level performance evaluation using benchmarking tools u00b7 Deep expertise in cloud virtualization, compute orchestration, OS image management, high-availability, and disaster recovery u00b7 Proficient in systems-level programming languages such as C, C++, Rust, and/or Go u00b7 Demonstrated history of technical leadership, decision-making, and mentoring u00b7 Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills u00b7 Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, with experience presenting complex ideas to technical and non-technical audiences Disclaimer: Certain US customer or client-facing roles may be required to comply with applicable requirements, such as immunization and occupational health mandates. Range and benefit information provided in this posting are specific to the stated locations only US: Hiring Range in USD from: $96,800 to $223,400 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.
