As a Senior Scientist, your role will be to conduct advanced diagnostic tests, ensure the highest accuracy and reliability of laboratory data, mentor junior scientists, and drive continuous improvements in laboratory methodologies and quality standards. What Youu2019ll Do: _This role carries_ _primary Principal Investigator (PI) responsibilities_ _, with ownership of study design, scientific direction, and execution._ _It is intended for an_ _advanced, senior-level scientist_ _transitioning from hands-on bench work into a_ _study and team leadership role_ _._ _The position is_ _PI-level (Senior Scientist)_ _and is_ _not heavily lab-based_ _, focusing instead on leading studies, interpreting data, and driving scientific strategy._ u2022 Independently perform method validations, method transfers and analytical testing of pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical compounds in a variety of formulations and/or delivery systems. Understand and conform to methods and protocols applicable to assigned tasks. Design and execute experiments with minimal supervision. u2022 Prepare study protocols, project status reports, final study reports and other project-related technical documents. u2022 Communicate data and technical issues to the client and respond to client needs and questions. u2022 Mentor, train and coordinate laboratory activities of other team members and assist in troubleshooting instruments and analytical problems. u2022 Assist with quality systems and new equipment. u2022 Assist in designing method validation or method transfer protocols and establish project timelines. u2022 Review, interpret, and analyze data for technical, quality and compliance to protocols, methods, SOPs, client criteria and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) or Good Laboratory Practices (GLP). Perform self and peer review of the data for accuracy and compliance with reporting requirements prior to submission to QA and issuance to customers. Education and Experience: u2022 Bachelor's degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification u2022 Previous experience to provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 5+ years). _In some cases, an equivalency, consisting of a combination of appropriate education, training and/or directly related experience, will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role._ Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: u2022 Solid understanding and knowledge of general chemistry and separation science u2022 Full understanding of laboratory requirements, PPD & client SOPs, ICH guidelines, USP requirements and FDA guidance u2022 Ability to utilize Microsoft Excel and Word to perform tasks u2022 Proficiency in technical operating systems u2022 Proven problem solving and troubleshooting abilities u2022 Effective oral and written communication skills u2022 Proven ability in technical writing skills u2022 Time management and project management skills u2022 Ability to work in a collaborative work environment with a team u2022 Proven problem solving and troubleshooting abilities u2022 Ability to train junior staff Working Conditions and Environment: u2022 Work is performed in a laboratory and/or a clinical environment with exposure to electrical office equipment. u2022 Occasional drives to site locations, occasional domestic travel. u2022 Exposure to biological fluids with potential exposure to infectious organisms. u2022 Rare exposure to skin and lung irritants, radiation, toxic materials and hazardous waste. u2022 Personal protective equipment is required such as protective eyewear, garments and gloves. u2022 Exposure to fluctuating and/or extreme temperatures on rare occasions. Physical Requirements: u2022 Ability to work in an upright and /or stationary position for 6-8 hours per day. u2022 Repetitive hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists to operate lab equipment. u2022 Occasional mobility needed. u2022 Occasional crouching, stooping, with frequent bending and twisting of upper body and neck. u2022 Light to moderate lifting and carrying (or otherwise moves) objects including luggage and laptop computer with a maximum lift of 15-20 lbs. u2022 Ability to access and use a variety of computer software developed both in-house and off-the-shelf. u2022 Ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand; with the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. u2022 Frequently interacts with others to obtain or relate information to diverse groups. u2022 Works independently with little guidance or reliance on oral or written instructions and plans work schedules to meet goals.
