The incumbent is responsible for designing, supervising and/or directing the preparation of construction plans and proposals for these projects. NOTE: This is a temporary position to be utilized while the incumbent is securing a Louisiana Engineer Intern certificate. Permanent status shall be denied to incumbents occupying this position. NOTE: Louisiana Engineer Intern Certificates are issued by the Louisiana Professional Engineering and Land Surveying Board. Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties: + Lead and provide guidance to field survey and technical staff as they collect and process project data. + Review engineering plans and studies prepared by consultants and DOTD staff to ensure compliance with DOTD and federal standards. + Prepare drainage studies and reports and conduct hydraulic reviews to support DOTD permit applications. + Apply hydraulic design principles and professional judgment to evaluate project-specific conditions. + Coordinate with engineering consultants, permit applicants, and the DOTD District Permits Specialist to provide hydraulic and technical expertise. Career Progression: This position may be filled as an Engineer Intern Applicant, engineer Intern 1 or 2, or an Engineer 3,4 or 5. Work Schedule: Work hours may vary Compensation: Below is the starting hourly rate for the Engineer Intern Applicant level, and the Special Entrance Rates (SER) for the additional levels in this job series: + Engineer Intern Applicant - $24.04/hourly - Eligibility for a Louisiana Engineer Intern Certificate. + Engineer Intern 1 - Special Entrance Rate (SER) $26.44/hourly. Possession of a current Louisiana Engineer Intern Certificate. + Engineer Intern 2 - Special Entrance Rate (SER) $28.29/ hourly. Possession of a current Louisiana Engineer Intern Certificate plus one year of professional engineering experience. + Engineer 3 - Special Entrance Rate (SER) $33.39/hourly. Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice professional engineering. + Engineer 4 - Special Entrance Rate (SER) $36.90/hourly. Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice professional engineering plus One year of licensed engineering experience OR Five years of professional engineering experience. + Engineer 5 - Special Entrance Rate (SER) $39.48/hourly.
