GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION Implements, manages, and monitors safety programs, policies, and procedures that meet OSHA and other applicable requirements within the electrical power Industry. Evaluates the organization's procedures, facilities, and equipment by conducting inspections to identify unsafe conditions and to implement safeguards and solutions. Ensures the organization complies with all current safety regulations and that all employees are aware of safety requirements and are prepared to follow safety procedures. Collects data and reports on all safety and accident events. May have additional responsibilities for various health and safety functions ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES + Performs hazard identification and risk assessments and recommends appropriate engineering and/or administrative/procedural controls. + Provide safety oversight and risk mitigation for utility line/substation construction projects, ensuring compliance with OSHA, NESC, and company safety standards; conducted field audits, facilitated tailboard meetings, and collaborated with line crews to proactively address high-risk activities such as energized work, tension pulls, and tree felling near conductors + Interprets regulations (City, County, State, Federal) for applicability to work processes, facilities, equipment, and materials to support company compliance. + Coordinates and performs visual inspections of equipment and processes to identify safety deficiencies. Document, report, and track findings, repairs, and corrective measures. + Develops and implements health and safety related standards and work procedures and monitors the application and effectiveness. + Lead and promote safety, attend safety meetings, and strictly observe safety rules. + Keeps abreast of technical and operational developments related to safety and creates, implements, and executes surveillance strategies, inspections, and evaluations of facilities and equipment. + Performs new employee and contractor safety orientation and training; conducts safety meetings, training, and accident investigations. Documents and reports on findings. + Performs no-notice, spot, and special inspections of facilities and work sites. Identifies potential hazards in the workplace, evaluates exposure to workers, and prescribes corrective measures. Documents and reports on findings. + Develop, present, safety training activities and training programs related to AED/First Aid equipment and fire extinguisher inspection and maintenance. + Coordinates industrial hygiene monitoring activities and assists with the development of corrective measures to control identified health hazards. + Responds to emergency situations as needed to support the business. + Support outage/storm work as needed. + Maintains records and documents as required by regulatory agencies and internal guidelines. + Pursues self-development; creates plans and takes action to capitalize on strengths, develop weaknesses, priorities deadlines and influences others through technical explanations and examples. + Supports, identifies, and monitors priorities, deadlines, and expectations + Lead efforts in storm response coordination. + The ability to handle stress and work well with others are essential functions of this position. + Due to our obligation to provide continuous, reliable electric service to our customers, the ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance and the ability to work outside your regularly scheduled office hours when necessary. + Maintain awareness of and compliance with applicable laws and regulations from various regulatory entities, internal policies, procedures, and directives. Ensure ongoing monitoring and timely incorporation of any changes to maintain adherence to compliance standards. + Performs any other related duties as required or assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Associate's degree from an accredited university. Technical Certificate in Safety and Health, Industrial Hygiene, or other related field from an accredited institution, plus 5 years safety-related experience, OR 8 years related industry/safety experience, training, or equivalent combination of education and experience in the utility/electrical industry. Proven experience in safety and risk management within utility or industrial environments (e.g., Substation build out, Right of Way (ROW) clearing experience, utility industry warehouse experience). Proficient in Microsoft suite data collection/reporting platforms and/or other related computer skills. Leadership experience, mentoring safety team members, and cross-functional partners Position-Specific Qualifications (One or both of the following are required): Experienced Journeyman Line Worker. Must hold a recognized Line Worker Certification (e.g., NLC, SLTC, Journeyman Lineman Certification/Credential) or equivalent. AND/OR Proven field experience and safety expertise in electrical utilities (e.g., power generation, transmission, distribution, or right-of-way utility clearance), or equivalent safety-related experience directly relevant to the job duties. REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS BCSP Certification (ASP, GSP, CSP) or Certified Utility Safety Professional (CUSP) Valid Arkansas Driveru2019s License OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification Must hold or obtain within 1 year: First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor Certification Forklift Trainer Certification OSHA 500 or OSHA 501 PREFERRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Certified Loss Control Professional (CLCP) Certified Loss Control Professional CLCP designation Tree Care Industry Association (TCIA) Certification (CTSP) Root cause analysis experience Certified Traffic Control Trainer Public Speaking Experience Accident Investigation Experience Mutual Aid/Disaster Response Experience Line Construction Foreman Experience Right-of-way line clearance experience Defensive Driver Trainer Arkansas driver's license with a Class A or B CDL endorsement Aerial Lift Trainer ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS Requires work in all weather conditions.
