The Resource Room Teacher plays a critical role in supporting students with diverse learning needs, helping them reach their academic goals and develop essential skills. The ideal candidate will be skilled in differentiated instruction, possess a deep understanding of special education practices, and demonstrate the ability to create a nurturing, inclusive environment.Responsibilities:Essential Duties:- Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, and parents to develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) and instructional strategies tailored to each student's unique needs.- Provide targeted support to students with disabilities or learning challenges, helping them access the curriculum and develop academic and social skills.- Develop, implement, and adapt comprehensive lesson plans that meet the curriculum standards and cater to diverse learning styles.- Develop assessments and monitor student performance through various methods, including tests, quizzes, projects, and presentations.u00a0- Implement appropriate interventions to promote growth and achievement.- Collaborate with colleagues to align curricula and participate in ongoing professional development initiatives.- Participate in school activities, meetings, and events to contribute to the overall mission of the institution.- Maintain a safe and positive environment for all students- Maintain effective communication with students, parents, and school staff- Regular and predictable attendanceCognitive Demands:- Supervision of multiple students at once- Establishing routines and procedures- Maintaining a safe and orderly environment- Create and implement instructional plans- Participate in continuous professional development- Effective oral and written communication skillsPhysical Demands:- Occasionally lift/move objects weighing up to 25lbs- Stand and walk frequently- Occasionally sit on the floor or bend down/squat- Withstand all demands presented by outside weather conditions at any time of the year- Withstand a moderate noise level- Be able to perform first aid/CPR if necessary- Assist/lift students, as necessaryQualifications:Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Education, or a related field.Valid teaching certification/license in Michigan for secondary education with an endorsement in the subject.u00a0Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in planning and assessing educational activities.Strong knowledge of IEP development, best practices in special education, and differentiated instruction strategies.Benefits:
