Application close date:Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until the requisition is closed. At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We're working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflightThis role is part of the New Shepard program. New Shepard is a reusable suborbital rocket system designed to take astronauts and research payloads past the Karman line - the internationally recognized boundary of space. Through operational reusability, New Shepard supports our mission of lowering the cost of access to space. As a member of the Structural and Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (SMGSE) team, you'll join a high-performing, fast-paced group of problem solvers dedicated to the New Shepard program. Our small team takes pride in being doers who own the entire development process from concept to commissioning. You will design, analyze, build, and commission critical equipment that enables launch operations, working directly with end users at our West Texas launch site to understand their needs and deliver robust technical solutions. The SMGSE team is the backbone of the NS launch operations infrastructure. Our team designs essential spaceflight support hardware including vehicle transporters, lift fixtures, maintenance platforms, engine test stands, launch pad infrastructure, and specialized assembly this role, you'll need to be a self-starter who thrives when tackling complex engineering challenges. You'll partner with operations teams, technicians, and other engineers to understand requirements and constraints before crafting innovative solutions that balance safety, functionality, and manufacturability. We maintain unwavering standards for safety and quality while developing practical, efficient designs that can be rapidly implemented to meet program needs. We're looking for someone with a genuine passion for Blue Origin's mission who is eager to put boots on the ground, stand behind their designs, and ensure successful implementation. If you enjoy seeing your ideas transform from CAD models to field-ready hardware that directly supports space flight operations, while balancing engineering excellence with speed of execution, this position offers the perfect blend of design creativity and hands-on engineering.Responsibilities:Own end-to-end design development of critical ground support equipment, from requirements definition through operational handoverPartner requirements development by engaging directly with end users, systems engineering, and operations teamsCreate innovative engineering solutions that balance safety, quality, and operational efficiencyDevelop detailed designs and analysis through technical reviews and validation analysesMaintain design authority throughout the fabrication process, working closely with vendors and manufacturing teamsPartner with system engineers to develop and execute comprehensive commissioning plansLead installation and commissioning activities at the West Texas launch site for project implementationDemonstrate hands-on ownership during field integration, resolving technical issues in real-timeBuild strong relationships with end users to ensure designs meet operational needs and gather feedback for improvementsServe as technical point of contact across multiple concurrent projects in various lifecycle phasesMinimum Qualifications:B.S. degree in mechanical engineering or related engineering discipline from an accredited institution1-2 years of experience designing and building structural/mechanical systemsExperience using CAD and FEM-based software (preferred Creo/SolidWorks and ANSYS)Demonstrated ability to develop fabricat
